Personality: Damian has always been rather temperamental. Quick to take offense or hold a grudge, he often tends to get into confrontations with his schoolmates. Because of this, he was well-known for his temper even as a first or second year.

Despite this, Damian had previously been fun-loving and friendly, for the most part, and genuinely enjoyed the company of others. After receiving a hate letter from his own father and later a break up letter from his girlfriend, Iva, Damian's personality turn for the worst. As he steadily becomes more surly and vengeful than ever, it is hard to say where his personality will end up.

Overall history: Damian is a muggleborn wizard, though, his elder sister had also been born with magic. Because of this, and a bond that was forged between them when Damian was born, the sibling had always been close despite the fact they had been born nine years apart. While he was growing up, Damian's parents were accepting of their children's magic, though this would change later on.

Theolynne doted on her brother from the time he was born. As soon as he was old enough to learn, she taught him what she had learn at school about magic and the wizarding world. Young Damian learned eagerly and showed a particular predilection for potions, brewing a successful Polyjuice Potion at the age of five (with his sister's assistance, of course). And it was not just knowledge that Theo (as Damian called her) showered upon her sibling. Gifts and attention, also, were given to the boy. Their mother often accused Theolynne of spoiling the boy, which was very much the case.

When Damian was nearly ten, he and his best friend Bryce were on the rooftop of their school during the summertime. As can often be expected of young boys, the two were roughhousing. It was while they were messing about in such a manner that the unthinkable happened: Bryce tripped and fell from the edge of the room. Without conscious thought, Damian used a burst of accidental magic to save his friend.

Things did not go well after that. Bryce, being from a family that despised magic and believed it to be of the devil, went and told all of their friends at school and everyone in the neighborhood that Damian had magic. Prejudice and afraid, the other children began to attack Damian, and he soon proved capable in defending himself in a fistfight. When attacking the 'filthy wizard' in smaller numbers proved ineffective, the muggle children began attacking their former friend en masse.

It was during one particularly brutal fight, when Damian was outnumbered nine-to-one, that he first met Headmaster Asric Chaos. The man helped Damian fend off the others, delivering a bit of punishment against them for their previous wrongs, though nothing of a permanent nature. That, the man said, was Damian's right. Once the muggle children had been dispersed, the headmaster healed the worst of the boy's wounds and escorted him home, where he formally requested of Damian's mother to allow him to take the boy as his apprentice.

Damian's first couple of years at Hogwarts were happy for the most part. He was thrilled to be learning magic and training with Master Chaos. The boy had also been selected for an alchemy apprenticeship with then Professor Richard Romain. School was everything he had looked forward to and beyond. Furthermore, he was far away from narrow-minded bullies who ganged up on him at every turn.

Tragedy struck on Damian's thirteenth birthday, however. While waiting for his sister in front of their parents house, Bryce approached Damian, intent on stopping the Damian from carrying through on his promise to kill those who bullied him. Drawing his father's gun, Bryce fired it at Damian. For a moment, Damian froze in shock, certain he was about to die. That was when Theolynne emerged and took the bullet instead.

Damian held his sister while she died, feeling the bond they shared fade. Then, he screamed, releasing with it a burst of accidental magic so great that glass shattered and Bryce was torn apart with a spell Damian had seen in Professor Romain's office. Had Asric not arrived and intervened, Damian might have completely depleted his magical core, resulting his death or total loss of magic. As it was, it took nearly a year for his core to recover entirely.

Devastated, Damian withdrew in school, acting out his grief by fighting with his schoolmates and getting into trouble. Somehow during that same year, however, Damian started an unlikely relationship with Russian-born Iva Popov and quickly growing extremely fond of the girl.

Iva later became his fellow apprentice – which Damian initially protested. It was during this time that they both were presented with their daemons. Damian's was a little brown wolf that he christened 'Lynne' after his sister. Iva's, a gray wolf, was named Zoya.

By the start of fourth year, after spending the summer at Hogwarts, Damian had largely gotten over Theolynne's death. That was when his father sent him a hate letter, threatening him with death if he ever returned home and accusing him of causing his sister's death. To add insult to injury, Iva broke up with him via letter during Winter Holidays a few months later.

Damian and Iva eventually got back together, by which point Damian had grown notably more possessive.

During the summer preceding his fifth year, Damian encountered a boy from Beauxbatons by the name of Alexander Dawson - a boy who shared a rather striking resemblance with Damian himself. As he first encountered Dawson speaking with Iva, Damian took an instant dislike towards him. Unknown to either, the two were half-brothers. Donovon Gray had been living a double life for nearly eighteen years.
