Option One - Past (930 AD)
The Ministry of Magic has been ruling on matters that concern the whole wizarding world of Britain since 700 AD. Hogwarts was founded in 750 AD by Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor. The last founder, Ravenclaw, died in 870 AD and left the running of the school to the government.
Between 700 AD and 929 AD, the British magical world has had little to fear from the muggles because the muggles have been fighting themselves in smaller kingdoms for many years now. However, with the unification* of the warring faction in 930 AD the magical world recognises that the muggles are now more of a threat than ever, especially as the now united kingdom has begun to focus on eradicating any who oppose the unification.
One night after getting drunk a group of four Pureblood Wizards decide to go out 'Muggle Baiting' after finding a group of Muggles they have their way and begin to kill them however one escapes and flee's to a nearby village where he tells some of the locals what he has seen. About the wizards and their magic. Meanwhile a Wizard has followed the Muggle back to the village and he is killed upon discovery.
Once the magical world has been exposed to the muggle world the King of the United England forms a council to advise and run their policy regarding the magical world. On this council are four main players. The English Cardinal, Edward Smithson, represents the Church and their utter hatred of the magical world. However, the King of England has three Noble families on the council that have bargained and bought the forgiveness of the Church. These three Noble families are all, without exception, magical. (This is where we need your help we need three people to put forth their names to fill these spots.)
The three Families are basically providing the spying for the muggles in the magical world. The elders are involved with the Ministry of Magic and their children are enrolled at Hogwarts (after spending years mastering how to protect their minds) with the job of finding out the attitudes and threats of the magical world. Basically the Three Families is a way to make the muggle option seem less of a fail.
The teachers of Hogwarts have decided, since the exposure, that the children must learn to defend themselves from the Church and, if it comes to it, how to wage a war against the non-magicals.
There is talk about releasing Slytherin's monster, known to be a basilisk by the Headmaster and Head of Slytherin, upon any muggle armies that seek to attack Hogwarts, knowing that the beast's instinct to protect the school would over-ride any desire to purge the school itself.
You, the RPers choose if the war begins.
*Unification- The process of being united or made into a whole.
Option Two - Future (2020)
The Canon Characters are all around 40, Harry and Draco's year are at least. They will NOT be playable. The exposure of the wizarding world is the same idea as the first with the pureblood wizards muggle baiting.
The wizarding world, having been hiding behind the statute of secrecy for so long, panics at first.
The Purebloods are all for going to war.
The Muggleborns want desparately not to go to war.
Anti-magical riots break out in some major cities.
Anti-muggle demonstrations by Purebloods and some Half-bloods in the Ministry's atrium.
The Church and the muggle media hype up the existance of witches and wizards as something evil.
More Anti-magical riots.
The Daily Prophet, controlled by Purebloods, begins an Anti-muggle campaign.
(Meeting of the Minister for Magic and the Prime Minister ends with the deadly misunderstanding, leaving the Prime Minister and his entire escort dead)
Anti-magical riots in every major city, many minor cities and in towns and villages up and down the country.
Vengence is demanded by the muggle media.
"An eye for an eye!" is demanded by the Church.
A muggle-born shows accidental magic in a crowded shopping centre during an Anti-magical demonstration.
In the choas that ensues the girl, only 6, is trampled to death.
Tempers flare in the magical world.
Purebloods, Half-bloods and Muggleborns are all up in arms about the death.
Purebloods drop their Anti-muggleborn campaigns to try and push for a united front against the muggles.
This movement achieves wide-spread support.
The Ministry of Magic selects a representative group of the magical world's most famous and influencial to have a meeting with the new Prime Minister.
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Minister Shacklebolt, Draco Malfoy and all the Malfoy and Potter sprogs are sent.
During the meeting, which is going poorly, Draco quietly suggests to the magicals that the Imperious Curse is an option. One of the Prime Minister's bodyguards, a bitter squib, hears this and immediately reacts to the preceived threat by shooting an unprepared Draco three times in the chest.
An hour later Great Britain needs a new Prime Minister (again), a new Minister for Magic needs to be elected and every member of the magical team is dead.
Anti-magical riots reach new heights, four more muggle-borns are 'accidentally' killed.
Anti-muggle demonstrations reach new heights, with some muggle-hunting occuring and becoming particularly vicious.
Both the Ministry and the Muggle Government are clinging on to the very fragile peace because both know the resulting Civil War would be the bloodiest in history.
For both storylines we are going to have three groups. One for the muggles (Exodus 22) who wish to rid the world of all magical people, a wizarding group (Maius Bonum) who believe all muggles should pay or die and finally the other wizarding group (Protectores Mundi) who swear to protect both muggles and wizards alike. They just want peace in the world.
Now it's up to you. So get voting get voting guys.
