Personality: Ren is a walking contradiction when it comes to most things. He is loyal to those that earn his trust but that is hard to do and if broken, he won't necessarily trust them again. Open minded about most things and tries to see things from all different perspectives. Paranoid and cautious thanks to his upbringing and having to hide when he was using magic from his mother. Doesn't like needless cruelty yet he deliberately calls his mother 'hahaue' to annoy her.

Would appear shy or rude depending on the circumstances because he keeps quiet and to himself. Likes to read books since that is how you can learn things and doesn't read much fiction. The reason he keeps to himself is not because he believes himself superior or inferior to people. It is for the simple fact that most people to him are strange and not that interesting. Prefers the company of animals since they don't talk incessantly about nothing.

Likes and dislikes his magic at the same time and was conflicted throughout the early years of his childhood. There is still some residual uneasiness about it but as the years go by he's come to accept and embrace his abilities. Like his father, he's found that some spells and charms are dissatisfying to him and so at times experiments with them just like he would anything else he found interesting.

Overall history: Aisling is a squib born to a family of Irish Purebloods. When she was a child she felt that magic was wrong and it only grew as she grew older and delved more into Catholicism. She didn't know that Haruki was a wizard when she married him and would have been left in ignorance had it not been for Ren showing accidental magic. She believed the boy to be possessed and tried to have him exorcised believing that it was the family curse showing itself in her child. That was when Haruki had to tell his wife what he was and she immediately wanted to be rid of him believing he had deceived her and was no better than her parents. As if to prove she was right he was killed by his own magic.

Haruki was of mixed Japanese and Korean decent but his family were purebloods as well. Since he was already ostracized from most of his family it didn't bother him when he was completely written off when he married Aisling. Upon his death that exclusion of the family was also passed down to Ren. They wanted nothing to do with him.

Ren has had deep rooted issues involving his magic as well as trust issues with his mother. Because of her though he got to meet a man who helped him overcome a little of his trust issues as well as taught him how to control his magic. Ren had been trying to control his magic since he disliked having accidents happen at home. The boy had been hiding whenever he did do magic. His tutor left him though and Ren was left alone until his letter came. With his letter came his mother's fury and her basically disowning him.

With nowhere or no one to turn to, Ren went to one of the people he at least knew was almost a friend and was a pureblood as well. If nothing else he knew that he would get help based on that alone.
