Personality:

Afonka is a happy and a cheery person. He's kind to everyone until given a reason not to, and in that case would simply continue being nice because everyone at least deserves to have someone be nice to them. But, if that still doesn't work, Afonka does know better than to stay in a place he knows he's not welcome.

But recently, Afonka just hasn't been as happy, not since he found Ophelia dead. The experience traumatized him, and it's been showing in the way he acts.

Overall history:

The Alkaev family has ties with the mafia. This has been going on for generations. Afonka himself was unaware.

Afonka is the product of a teenage pregnancy. When his mother found out, she disappeared from Durmstrang, leaving his father to chase her down to a little town in the north of Russia and promise her that he'd never leave her, even though they were both disowned by their families. When this happened, Rodion's parents knew that their son would have to pay for disappearing and leaving them. But they bid their time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. To this day, Rodion Alkaev has kept his promise to Geirgina. They both loved and nurtured their son very much, making sure to teach him right from wrong so that he'd grow up to be a kind and caring individual to everyone he met.

And as most people who've met Afonka can attest to, it worked. During his years at Durmstrang, he made many friends, the most notable of whom would be Ophelia, Tessa, the Moon Twins, Roman and Faye. However, you can't make friends without a few enemies and sadly, Afonka made one by the name of Feliks Chmerkovskiy. Feliks made it his mission to make the poor boy's life miserable.

One day, while Afonka was in the catacombs, he found Ophelia Montague dead. The experience traumatized the fourth year and he began experiencing nightmares and acting irritably. He began to blame himself for it, as he believes that if he'd been a few minutes earlier, he could've saved her. For months, he was unable to put the incident behind him. But slowly, with the help of his friends, he overcame it.

His grandparents finally made their move in his fifth year. They recruited Afonka into the mafia. He either could join them, or parents and sister would die. Afonka Alkaev joined the wizarding mafia.

He's become disenchanted with the world, and terrified with the negative thoughts towards other people he's found himself thinking. And he's found one way to relief himself of it. Pain.
