Personality:

To the public, Julian is an egotistical, self-absorbed person. He seems to believe that he's an absolutely great person, but that not everyone deserves to know him, and therefore surrounds himself with few people. He can come across as a bit of a bully, but as he's pointed out many times, he has morals, and isn't above caring about others, though it is both rare and not very meaningful. He also has a bit of a temper, but it's not easy to actually get him angry. When confronted, he's more likely to be sarcastic than anything else.

The real Julian Rousseau isn't an easy person to know. He's something of a pathological liar. Though he actively dislikes lying to his best friends, he does it anyway. He can, on occasion, prove himself to be a great person.

Julian is secretly rather terrified that all of his friends are going to leave him one day. And he's very prone to jealousy of any person that he thinks is going to make that happen.

Julian was born on a hot summer day in August. The third child of Donat and Dominique, they were significantly more busy when Julian was growing up, and instead of being around for him as they were for his elder two siblings, they showered him with gifts and presents, leading him to be a very spoiled individual from a young age.

When he began preforming accidental magic, it started small, with him moving objects around. These bursts of magic were waved off as someone misplacing an item, but eventually they became too big to ignore. One day, when Julian was eight years old, his piano instructor wanted him to be able to play Mozart's song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in a set amount of time, and when he couldn't complete it in time, he was forced to redo the song over and over. Getting more and more annoyed, he set the piano on fire, almost burning the instructor to death. After the incident, Julian was locked in a rather small room for hours on end by his parents until he promised them that he'd never do that again. But because he couldn't control his magic, he ended up finding himself spending more and more time in that room, at times for hours on end without anything to eat. His father, who'd always been abusive, became much worse after that incident.

When he finally got his letter to Beauxbatons, he was happy, because he didn't need to be scared that he'd step out of line and find himself back in that room. When he was younger, he got along quite well with his older brother, Corin. But Corin, even from a young age, was very scientific and wouldn't believe anything without proof. His brother having magic turned his world around, and he began to drift away from his little brother.

When he started Beauxbatons, he befriended four girls, Ninette Fontaine, Lisette Josse, and Harmonie and Mélodie de Venin. Nicknaming them his Angels, they quickly became best friends.

In his third year, Julian developed a crush on a fourth year Valée. However, she broke his heart, and he realized that no one would ever possibly fall in love with him. Monique Lambert didn't just break his heart. She destroyed him. He'd been naive, almost innocent. But he became the rather cynical about love Julian that everyone knows today. This event also destroyed the already breaking down relations between Julian and his eldest sibling, Madeline, as she disproved of the way he was living his life.
