Sitting just there

"Yeah, I'm part Spanish too, on my mom's side," Maria answered Jake. She looked at the floor. "So where else have you been?" she echoed Aurelie.

Melanie walked slowly down by the lake with James next to her. "Uhm.... So, how do you like Hogwarts?" she asked, even though it was only the most common question. She just needed something to say, that didn't make her blush like a tomato!

"Oh... excuse me for a moment!" she said hastily as she noticed one of her best friends Aurie. "I have to say hi!" She said with a smile.

"AURIE!" Melanie all but jumped on her friend. "Nice to see you!" she then turned to look at James "Oh Aurie, this is James, have you guys met?"

Maria jumped, shocked by Melanie's approach. "I definitely know you," she said quietly.

"Yeah!" Aurelie waved at James. "It's nice to meet you. James, have you met jake?" She dragged Jake out from where he was behind her. "You both are boys! Have some guy talk. Mel, have you met Maria?"

"I'm sure I've seen you before," Maria mused. "I have to go though. I seriously don't care about the rain, isn't that the whole point of Impervius?"

She ducked out from under the tree and went in the direction of the castle.

James was about to answer when Melanie ran off. He chuckled slightly and followed her, only was he not running. He greeted the people already there with a little wave.

"No, I don't think we've met, I'm James, obviously," he said with a smile.

"Good," Aurelie said and shoved Jake at James. "You two are boys: have a boy-to-boy talk." She grinned at them.

Jake turned back to Aurelie. "Why did Maria leave?" he asked, confused. "That's interesting...." He looked at the girl wrapped in his coat for an answer.

"Oh, you know, girls," Aurelie said, laughing quietly. "You can't live with them, you can't live without them."

Jake tore his eyes away from Aurelie and looked away at the castle. "Do you," he said feebly. "Do you want to head inside?"

"Sure," Aurelie said, turning to Mel and James. "Would you mind if we, like, left you here?" she cracked a small smile. "I'm sure you two have much to talk about."

Jake started walking with Aurelie.
"I'm really glad that I met you," he said to Aurelie awkwardly. "It's been fun."

Aurelie felt a surge of foolish pleasure and heat rose in her cheeks. "Thanks," she said, giggling. "I'm glad i met you too."
Their hands touched in the folds of their robes, and she blushed even deeper.

Jake felt the beginnings of a blush spread on his cheeks.
"You're a boy," he thought to himself. "Don't blush!"
But one look at Aurelie's red cheeks and he felt himself blush too.
She was too damn pretty. He was weaker around her.

"I'm going to go," Aurelie said awkwardly. "I-I-I have to meet....Allie!"
Whirling around, she ran, her brown hair flying out behind her.

Jake watched her leave with a little twist of his mouth. Then he turned and sat down next to a tree, getting his robes muddy.

He had to think.

"Stupid!" he told himself.
