by Angel stumbled along. Why? Why did she have these stupid flashbacks? She dug her nails into her palms as the horrible images of her dead mother bounced around in her head.
The girl bit her lip, mentally telling herself to go on. She hated it. She hated it all. Why wouldn't it stop?
"Stupid flashbacks," Angel groaned to herself. "Stupid family." She remembered all the times her father hit her. The time he left, too. All of it. She shuddered and squeezed her eyes shut, and tripped. She then collapsed on the floor.
She wouldn't cry. Angel never did. Instead, she sat herself up, and rubbed her temples. Pulling her knees up to her chest, she tried to forget the day she went to wake her mother, and she didn't get up. The day it became clear to Angel she was very ill. She'd pleaded and begged, but she still didn't move.
The girl groaned and buried her face in her knees.
