Different Ends (Lena)

Lex sat at the edge of the lake silently and for a first time in months, started to reconsider her new lifestyle.

Why should she need a job? Hadn't she promised herself that she wouldn't get tied down? The woman looked down sadly at her waitress apron, still wrapped tightly around her waist- after all, this was only a lunch break- and a few tears stung her eyes. This was not the life she wanted- a pointless, boring job and an unstable relationship with Kasper.

"Not what I planned." she breathed into space.

The afternoon heat was quickly getting to Lena, making her seem rather annoyed about everything. If there was anything she hated about the summer, it was this. She hated the fact that the sun was at its hottest because she hated heat with a passion, even fire. Worst of all, this was one of the worst summers of her life. If only school can hurry itself up so she can forget about this.

As she walked past the lake, she felt humid, and beads of sweat were already forming on her neck. She cursed herself as she walked by, and she turned her face just enough to see a woman looking pretty down. She smiled, walking silently towards her to make sure that she didn't disturb her all too much.

"Are you okay?" she questioned quietly, tilting her head to one side.
