Mind over Matter Empty Mind over Matter

    J. J. walked into occlumency feeling a little nervous. She had to admit that she had definitely not kept up with her study's over the summer. She was sure she was right back to where she started with little to no control over her thoughts and who could hear them.

Still, in the spirt she was attempting to start this year in, she again waltzed up to a front seat, sat down, and hoped for the best.

Stormy stepped quietly into Occulemency. It was more important than ever to learn the skill-she had, despite her demenor, been quite afraid of the two Slytherins. Someday, she sighed. Someday she would defeat them.

She hadn't really gotten to do all that much in this class last year. She walked up and took a seat next to the only other child. She whispered a quick, "Hey. I'm Stormy," to her, and that was about all the attempt at conversation she made.

    J. J. looked over at the girl who had spoken. She had barely said any words at all, but that didn't mean that the Hufflepuff couldn't be polite.

"Hello," she nodded her head in return, lips turning up slightly in a smile, "I'm J. J. Jones."

After that she returned to fiddling with her books on her desk, unsure if there was really anything left needing to be said.

Stormy smiled back. It'd been a long time since she'd been showed kindness from anyone outside her family. "It's nice to meet you, J.J.," Stormy continued in her whispery voice. "What house are you in?" She didn't know why she attempted conversation; maybe it was just the urge to have a friend, someone to talk to, buried deep inside.

Juniper looked around the near-empty room, sighing inwardly. She was happy as long as a place was either completely empty or full of people. At least in a large crowd, she could blend in to the shadows, and, well, the silence of an empty room was incomparable to anything else.

She strode over to a desk in the corner of the room, taking out her things along with a book. She opened it, feeling the old, worn pages shuffling between her fingers. Usually, anyone polite would leave you alone if you were reading. But she wasn't always so lucky.

    J. J. looked up as another girl entered the room. She appeared to want to be left alone, if where she chose to sat was any indiciation.

Shrugging, and not minding at all, J. J. pulled out her text book and read on what they were going to be studying.
