Lesson 1 Second Years

Walking calmly into class he found a seat and prepared himself, he laid everything out neatly and looked at the door waiting for someone to come in. He sighed and got comfortable this may take a while

Darting into the classroom, for once without Ross, Savannah straightened up, looking around. Waving at Vincent, she paused for a minute, and against her rational mind, took a seat by him, "So Vincent," she tilted her head slightly, "I heard that you almost got expelled. Nice going."

He smiled at Savannah as she entered the room but it vanished as soon as she spoke he refuted with "Well we weren't hurting anyone, and I know it's my fault that I fell aslepp during the Headmaster's speech and that I didn't read the rules... but I've learnt my lesson" he leaned back on his seat hooking his feet under the desk. He put his hands under his head and loked at the girl.

"I can't be the only one to nearly be expelled, and the ministry was overreacting" he added before sighing.

"Well, that's good." Savannah nodded, pausing for a moment. He'd almost got expelled. No, she thought, shoving that thought into a mental box. If he was stupid and used magic outside of school, then it was his bloody fault.

"I know a way around it." she said slyly, grinning. "Wanna hear it?"

He raised an eyebrow at the girl "Bring it, I'm open to most things" he grinned cheekily and paid close attention to her words.

"Well," she paused for dramatic effect, grinning, "The Trace isn't perfect. If you use magic somewhere surrounded by a bunch of overage wizards and witches, the Ministry won't be able to tell who did it. So you can use magic outside of school, you just have to be careful where you do."

Nodding, Savannah flashed Vincent a rare smile.

Lynx entered the classroom he had his second years to teach this morning, as he entered he was surprized to see that there were only two students, he then placed his bag and textbooks on his desk and looked at his wrist watch and shook his end, it was time to start the lesson

"Attention please, firstly im Professor Miller I work for the Ministry and they have decided to appoint me to this position due to the seriously falling standards of this subject, any questions? no excellent" Lynx then picked up a textboook and skim read two pages then placed it down

"Right ok so you will be learning to transfigure objects into small birds" Lynx then pulled out his wand "So to perform this you must hold your wand quite firmly then twirl it up in a spirial motion, I want you to practice the wand movement first before we cast the spell, because if you get the wand movements wrong Merlin only knows what you'll end up with"

He smiled when he saw Lynx, then it vanished as he remembered what had unfolded between them. He missed the duel they had had. He grabbed his wand after returning Savannah's pretty smile. He mimicked Lynx well, then he tried it separately doing a good job. He grinned at Lynx then Savannah as he did it a couple more times.

Nodding seriously at the Professor, she fiddled with her wand for a moment. Why birds of all things? Calm down Savvy, it's not like a little bird is going to kidnap you. Smiling weakly at Vincent, she raised her wand, following the man's instructions. This spell didn't seem all that hard.

Lynx carefully observed the students practicing the movements, after a while he was pleased they had mastered it he then walked behind his desk and pulled out two blue vases and placed one on each of the students desks

"Alright so I think you should try and cast the actually spell now, so remember twirl your wand in an upward spir ial motion and say the incantation Avifors" Lynx then folded his arms and watched the students

"Avifors," Savannah muttered softly, staring at the blue vase on her desk before nodding.

Repeating the wand movements, she said the spell again, louder this time, her blue eyes trained on the vase in front of her. Nothing. Not even a small little feather was produced. Hissing softly, she growled, squaring her shoulders as she tried again.

Lynx watched as the Gryffindor girl attempted the spell, she wasn't successful Lynx then walked over to her

"Alright Miss Lerran, what your problem is that your not holding your wand firm enough, squeeze it really tight as though your trying to break it ok" Lynx said as he patted her on the back then walked back to the front of the room

Looking up at the professor, Savannah listened carefully, nodding as she glanced down at her hand. Tightening her grip, she took a deep breath before trying again, speaking the spell as clearly as she could, wand aimed at the vase. "Avifors."

Closing her blue eyes, she cracked one open to look at the vase, though there wasn't one there anymore. The vase had been given some bird-like features, like feathers, a beak and small bird legs, but technically it was still a vase. Staring down at the object in front of her with barely concealed disgust, she shook her head, trying again.

Charlotte struts in several minutes late, as she has been for nearly every class. She waves merrily at the Professor, hoping he's in a good enough mood to not dock any points.

"Sorry I'm late... I had to stop by the bathroom. You know, girl stuff..." winking, she found an empty seat and sat down with a thump.

Lynx blushed a little as the girl mentioned why she was late "Um... thats quite alright its good you could make we're learning the Avifors charm" he told the girl

Nods and pulls out her wand, a smug look on her face. "This shouldn't be too hard," Charlotte thought to herself.

Lynx walked over to the girl and placed a vase on her desk " So Miss Bell, to cast this spell you must hold your wand quite firmly and twirl it up in a sprial motion and say Avifors, alright? good so i'll let you have a try"

Lynx then made his way back to the front of the class

Charlotte watched the Professor as he walked up to her desk, and sighed when he set the vase in front of her. She nodded curtly at the instructions, and then stared determinedly at the vase, gripped her wand tightly, and muttered "Avifors".

She blushed a deep red when a pair of bird like legs appeared on the vase, but nothing else. The vase walked in circles on the desk.

"I forgot to twirl my wand..." Charlotte said, looking up Professor Miller. She brushed a strand of hair out of her face and exhaled, ready to try again.

Lynx nodded at the girl as she figured out what she did " Well Miss Bell, had you come earlier you would have had time to practice the movements like the rest of the class" Lynx said sternly

Ignoring his last comment, Charlotte quickly twirls her wand up in a spiral motion and shouts "Avifors!".

She smirks at the small brown bird sitting atop her desk.

"What was that you were just saying, Professor?"

Looking up to watch the Slytherin enter, Savannah rolled her eyes, turning back to her bird-vase thing. Another attempt at the spell completed the transformation, and on her desk hopped a little parakeet. Smiling sofly, she glanced back at the girl as she shouted to find that she'd done it as well.

Leaning back in her chair, Savannah rolled her eyes, clapping slowly, "Congrats," she said dryly, "You did it. But unlike you, we don't need to yell to do it. I think you should work a little on being a little bit quieter." Putting a finger up to her lips, she smirked behind it.

Lynx watched as the girl successful did the spell " Yes welll done Miss Bell a beautiful cast" he then heard Savannah make a rather mean comment towards the girl

"Ah yes thank you Miss Lerran, Im more than capable of critiquing other students" Lynx said sternly

Charlotte laughed at the other girls 'witty' comment, but the moment Professor Miller turned his back, she lashed her wand out and made the legs of Savannah's chair disappear and snickered as it hit the floor.

She quickly turned back to her desk, and tried to seem as innocent as possible, failing miserably.

Shrugging sheepishly, Savannah flashed the professor an apologetic smile, "Won't happen again, sir."

Wincing as she suddenly found herself on the ground, she whirled up onto her feet, stalking over to Charlotte, "I bet you think you're hilarious, don't you?" Grabbing her wand off of her desk, she pointed it in the girl's face, "Well, we'll see who's so funny."

With a burst of laughter, Charlotte casually twirls her wand around in her hand and holds her head up high, trying to look confident.

"What are you gunna do, hm? Throw some snarky comments at me? Try to look all mean and tough? Yeah, that'll only get you so far."
