Just a Game

Faye smiled as he kissed her cheek and a rebutal to the sweetest person ever comment was on the tip of her tongue when she heard the rest of it. Her brain froze for a moment, not quite understanding the words, but then slowly, one by one, they made their way into her head.

I.

Love.

You.

Slowly a silly little grin began to pull at her lips. If she hadn't had the added worry of the rest of the situation, she probably wouldn't have been able to hold back the small little giggle she wanted to give.

"If I didn't, I do now," she said softly, before adding, "I love you too."

She shot a boy a glance, raising her eyebrow slightly, "Actually?"

Hearing those words sent a pleasant chill up Roman's spine, and his heart swelled to the size of a ripe watermelon. He grinned back at her, only the slightest bit dizzy from the sheer joy of the moment. The only thing that would make it better was if he could actually think clearly for a second, but he wasn't going to go taking things for granted.

He bit his lip, suddenly noticing a very interesting design on the wood adorning the walls, "What? Oh, umm... I didn't say anything."

"I'm just curious, but," he tried to say it in as casual a way as he could manage, "You don't happen to know any potions that, I don't know, make people just a little bit nicer? Not that I would ever use it on anybody, I'm just wondering..." Roman looked at Faye out of the corner of his eye, fighting back a smile.

Faye snorted at his tone. Rolling her eyes, she patiently waited until he'd tell her.

"No, not that you'd use it at all," she said with a slow smile and a shake of her head. "Well... not that I'd approve of things exactly... Love potion makes them you know, love someone, and I suppose Laughing concotion might put them in a semi-decent mood. But just nicer..."

Faye shrugged. She didn't know her potions all that well. She was only slightly better at them than she was at normal magic.

Roman shrugged, "I guess we could just use trial and error." He giggled at the thought of Feliks under the effects of a Laughing Concoction, or, even better, a love potion. His laughter faltered a little once he caught sight of the door to the infirmary.

With a sigh, he turned slowly to Faye, "Time to get fixed up. You coming in for moral support? Or do I have to go it alone?"

Faye rolled her eyes, but smiled anyway.

"Like I'd leave you alone," she teased. "I've wasted all this time on you already, might as well go make sure the mean healers don't get you. Besides, they love me in there. I'll get you all the best stuff. "
