Sweet Escape

Sergius swung the sword in hand, his movements precise as another wave of cold winter wind rushed into the Arena. It was late morning and the sun was peaking out from behind the clouds for the first time that day. The Hrabrost student let the sword hang at his side and walked towards the first steps of the Arena, taking ad rink from his water bottle that stood there.

Karma didn't look at the boy in the arena, if she took any notice of him at all, and instead went straight to the center. She had just come from the cemetery, and she was furious.

She moved her arm, and in one solid motion her black cloak came off from her body, revealing her identity for the first time. She rolled her head on her shoulders, rolling her shoulders and such, before flicking her wrists and catching the twin daggers that appeared. She fell into a stance, before going through her training exercises, dodging and weaving through the air with such fluidity that it was like a dance. She aimed a kick into the air, before dropping into a crouch and tackling through nothing, ending in a barrel roll that ended with her behind her imagined foe.

She smiled and rolled her head on her shoulders again, then moved her shoulders, then her entire body.

Now that stretches were over, it was time for the real training to begin.

Sergius turned his head as he saw the vampire girl from the party. His expression was cold as he studied her movements. She knew how to fight, he could see that. He had been surrounded by professional assassins since the day he was born. What surprised him was to actually see her here. When he left the party at the Montague Manor he was glad to see the end of the halfbreed, but now he was not so sure. "So this is the kind of business that you do," he called out to her coldly.

Karma paused, glancing up at the boy for the first time. She raised an eyebrow. "No. It's not." She said, not moving from her defensive position. "What've you got on you? A sword? Want to spar?" She loved fighting people with swords. It was a nice way to practice, since she wasn't really a sword-specialist, though she knew many who were. She'd really have to learn how to get better with them, even though it wasn't really her style.

She cocked her head to the side and grinned. "Hello, Serge." She greeted belatedly.

"I don't spar with people I know nothing about," Sergius said before taking another drink of water. He could be fighting against her later sometimes. Taking necessary risks was not something he did, well not often. "So what do you do then?" he asked, frowning slightly at her.

Karma rolled her eyes. "Oh. You're scared I'm going to learn all your tricks?" She teased. "Well. Fine then." She continued her exercises alone, jabbing and slashing into thin air. She paused again, looking over at him.

"I live." She said simply. "That's all." She aimed a high kick into the air, tensing so she stayed perfectly balanced on one foot, her leg straight and her torso parallel to the ground. "Staying alive is a full time job when you're only half human."
