Unexpected meetings (James/Mel)

James just wanted to escape home for a minute. He didn't know where to go, so he just went walking outside. He usually liked it at home, but at the moment there was nothing to like. He had just walked outside, it was really hot outside so a t-shirt and shorts were the only clothes he wore.

After about two hours of pointlessly roaming to the forest James thought it would be better if he started to walk back. He turned around and was suddenly collided with something warm and moving. He toppled over and sent them both to the ground.

"I'm sorry," he said quickly, and he was about to move of off the person he walked into when he realized who it was. He forgot he was on top of her for a moment and his eyes widened. "Hello," he murmured, not moving.

Melanie kicked a pebble that was on her way, she had been sent to the store to buy apples for her mother and was on her way home.
The sun was shining beautifully but still she felt dark and tired.

She closed her eyes as she continued to walk to shield her eyes from the sun, but she better not have because few seconds later something stumbled into her and caused her to fall and that something on the ground and land on top off her.

Her eyes widened and the basket of apples flew from her hand and sent the apples flying in all directions. "Whagh-" was the only sound she seemed able to make until she looked up and at the person that had sent her to the ground. "Ohmygod." she breathed out "What are you doing here?"

"Well, I live near this forest," James said, he just stared at her for a few moments and then he realized he was still lying on top of her. He forced himself to not blush and quickly rolled of off Mel. He got off the ground and held out his hand for her, as he helped her up, he made sure he didn't use too much strength. This situation remembered him of his first meeting with her.

"What are you doing her?" he asked, and he moved closer to her to take a leaf out of her hair. When he realized what he was doing he quickly stepped back again.

Melanie stared at James for what seemed forever before finally speaking again. "Uhm oh.. I live here, nearby too." She said and felt the familiar blush creep up her cheeks.

She bent down to collect some of the apples that had fallen on the ground. "How.. you been?" she asked, trying to make the awkwardness that clearly filled the air go away.

James gathered himself and quickly helped Mel collect the apples that she had dropped. He hadn't noticed her dropping them until she started picking them up herself. He collected a few of them and walked over to Mel and handing her the apples.

"I've been okay," he lied, he didn't feel like talking about what was going on at home. "How are you?" he asked, changing the subject to something else than him. He combed his fingers through his hair and awaited her answer.

Mel finished putting all the apples back and gave James a smile. "Thanks." She said and the looked down. "Uhm... my summer has been fine, boring really.. I cannot wait to go back to school, you know? This year we'll actually know things, not be the weird awkward firsts years, we'll be second years! We'll have power." she laughed.

She looked at James with a small smile and blushed, not really knowing the reason why she was blushing she decided to speak again. "Are you.. looking forward to the next year?"

James chuckled softly as she blushed again, she wondered why she blushed though, he hadn't really done something right. He buried one of his hands in his robes as he formed his answer.

"You have no idea," he said with a grin, and then he walked over to hair and slung one of his arms over her shoulder. He didn't really know why he did it, but it seemed like the right thing to do. "Want to walk with me?" he asked with a smile.
