Questions and Suggestions

This thread is for if you have any questions or suggestions for the site, if there's something you don't like, tell us and we'll try our best to fix it, if there's something that you want to be done differently we'll consider it and if you have any questions about the way things are run here please don't be afraid to ask them. Just post a reply in the topic below and you will get an answer as soon as possible.

Me and my fellow Admins are here to help whatever the request, if it's something a little more private you can always owl the question or suggestion to any of us.

The one thing I really wish is you would have a button on the thread that will take you to the last post you have read. When it is a thread with just two people its not a big deal but sometimes I have to skim 2-3 pages to figure out the last post I read. All the other sites I am on have this button on the thread..

I am probably over caring but in light of the new rules I am wondering how to go about setting up one of my characters into a relationship since he is a student but 32 and stuck at the age 18. And my brain keeps just won't let him date another student now since that could seem pedoish but if he dates an adult the adult will seem like a pedo.

what should I do about getting him into a relationship?

Ok, probably I'm going to ask the most stupid and obvious question but... How do you work this School Year Schedule thing? That is, when and how do we know apart from dates that things begin? Is there somebody to start threads, or a different section of the forum provided etc? Or if not where to thread those particular events?
I understand that teachers start Lesson threads, but where to find them in the forum just to not get lost?
And finally, what timezone does the site operate on? Then, are all events synchronized to that time zone?

Things around here are pretty relaxed when it comes to the timings of things. When it comes to the ship/ train/ carriages the Admins will unlock them when the time comes. Seeming as how we all operate in different time zones it basically comes down to who ever gets there first. Students are then free to create their own threads in these subforums.

As for lessons, the teachers make the thread within the first few days of lessons opening. Sometimes people can't get on for a couple days so we give leeway with the timings. Lessons will be found within the schools in the appropriate classroom.

That all being said the site doesn't operate on a specific timezone and is thereby quite flexible. When ending threads like OWLs etc. we generally use my timezone as I'm the furthest west Admin.

Have you guys sorted out how Quidditch is going to work? Cause my other character, Casey Donohoe, was on the Quidditch team last year and I never did anything because I didn't know how.

Where am I supposed to post the topic for the sorting quiz?

Emily- if you scroll down a little on the home page, There's a section labeled character creation. Find Step Two- Sorting and Claims and click on Sorting Quizzes, then enter the school you want. Post there, at the bottom.

I know this might sound stupid, but, I heard about someone being an apprentice. So, how can I get one of my characters to be one?

Not a stupid question, at all, Samuel. We really need to get around to updating the Apprenticeship threads - they keep falling through the cracks. >.< In the meantime, feel free to just owl the professor or adult (doesn't have to be a professor) you'd be interested in apprenticing with and ask if they'd be willing to take you on.

Sorry. Yes. Quidditch. We never did get enough people to sign up, I don't think. Can't properly have matches without enough players. We'll see what can be done about trying to get that initiated, somehow.

Er... there's something that confuses me. A lot of the time, I see in people's signatures '*name's* charries' or something like that. But what IS a charrie? How do they work? How do you get one? I've been curious fro ages, but I really wanted to know now.

A charrie is just one of your HR characters. Therefore, you already have one. Whenever it says '_____'s Charrie' it just means that the person has a lot of different characters and stamps them all to say it's theirs. Other words that may confuse you:

HR- Hogwarts Regenerated- this site
RL- Real Life- that pesky thing that gets in the way of posting
OOC- Out of Character- used when you're posting as a character, but want to say something as your real life self
cb- chat box- in the bottom right corner, used to talk OOC
wb- Welcome back- used in the chat box when someone left and came back
Handler- the RL person in control of the characters- usually used in the cb if you're talking as your character, not yourself Ex) My handler is super hyper right now.
The Abyss- the away portion of the cb- when people come back from being away, they sometimes say they've climbed out of the abyss

If there are any other words that confuse you, go ahead and ask.

I think there should be something in the little side bar where your name and pic and that stuff is, there should be a place to say if you're a creature/ have an ability.

I think we need to start getting serious about the lesson, for the start of next school "year" I think its really slipped off in the department, I suggest perhaps getting a another school year schedule, and making teaching mandatory for professors, as well as alerting everyone when a "term" starts and finishes.

I just checked out Hogwarts Academy, and wow do they have their lessons sorted. I personally think we can get your standard back up to that awesome level again
