Overall history: Renee was born an only child to Carson and Hannah Greenwood. Her mother died in a tragic car accident when Renee was 6 years old. After the accident things were really tense between Renee and her father. Carson, Being a practical man, knew, and was not totally comfortable with the fact that his daughter was a witch and would one day become aware of her powers and go to a magical school. So he asked Hannah's mother to take Renee in.
Renee went to live with Cynthia in Liverpool when she was 7. Renee inhered her powers from her grandmother, having skipped her mother's generation. So naturally Cynthia taught Renee all about the wonderful world of magic.
By age 10, Renee actually started showing promise as a powerful witch. She had already stated to show impressive control over her powers.
When Renee got the letter in the mail from Hogwarts she could not have been happier. But she knew she would miss her grandmother dearly for they had become very close in the time she spent with her. So Cynthia gave Renee her locket,which contained moving pictures of both Renee's mother and Cynthia.
