The day was grim, that was obvious enough. The sun wasn't as bright as it seemed to be the day before, and the only thing it did was help everyone see the scenes that was around them, instead of the shining light that provided joy to those that were lucky enough to walk under its rays.

A few people were gathered around a tombstone, staring at it without much emotion. There were only four left behind: Xavier and Ellie, Jethro, and Adele. Haze, being the selfish whore (this is what Adele often referred to her as in her mind) she was, decided to skip the burial, saying that she was 'sick.'

If anyone knew her well enough, they could tell she was lying.

Earlier in the day when the sun wasn't so high in the sky, there were more people, and it was precisely this fact that made Adele sadder than she should be. She couldn't believe this was actually happening... it was nice to see so many people cared about this as much as she did, no matter how heartbreaking it was.

Eventually, even Xavier, Ellie and Jethro plucked up the courage to sigh and leave, leaving Adele the last person to be at the tombstone. Her fingers reached out to brush the gritty rock, and her lip began to quiver.

"H-Hey," she whispered, feeling as if she was older than she should be. Her throat was clogged with rage, grief, and her heart was beating faster than she had ever felt with the Pineapple Army. Her hand rested on the name of the deceased, blinking back her tears, "it's me, Adele. I-I'm so sorry that... I forgot to owl you back." She hugged the tombstone close to her, as if she was never going to see it again. That was a lie; she would, because for the rest of her days, she will frequent this place more than that is healthy for a normal person.

Adele began to trace the engraved letters on the tombstone. "I'll miss you, a lot," she whispered. Silence came as the breeze blew on Adele's hair.

    That's it. This was over.

Eyes drooped, Adele couldn't bear the harsh truth that was happening in front of her. Or more like, under her. She ran towards her parents, cheeks flooded with tears.

    Kaycee Bass was dead.
