Karma was speed walking through the neighborhood that Liksie's flat was in, eager to see the boy again after so long. Her silver bracelet - the one Arsen had made for her that she never took off - sparkled in the sun as she raised both hands to her knapsack's straps, holding it in place as she moved. In anyone else's opinion, it would be too hot for black clothes, but it would take a lot for Karma's black tanktop/black jean combo to be changed. The outfit was something she was used to, and she had clung to its comfortable familiarity when surrounded by Geoffrey's clothing options that day.
The bracelet, however, was not something she was going to compromise on. She hadn't taken it off once since he'd given it to her, and she wouldn't.
She wasn't too out of it to notice the footsteps that started to follow her, attempting to be in step but failing by a halfsecond. It's what made her speed her pace just the tiniest bit. She didn't want to get into trouble on the way to Liks's house. It would make things harder for the boy later, most likely.
However, as with most trouble Karma Black got into, it wasn't completely optional.
"Stop." The older boy stepped out from around a corner, causing her to skid to a stop or find herself sprawled into his chest. Leather boots nearly skidding to a halt, Karma looked up at the boy, not appreciating the height difference the least bit.
"What do you want?"
The boy didn't seem to appreciate her tone, and neither did the three others around her that appeared seemingly out of the woodwork. "How about that little bracelet of yours? Must be worth a pretty penny..." He reached out to grab her wrist, and she took a step back, out of his reach. He seemed to take it as a reaction due to fear. So he was headstrong and dense. Not particularly a good combination.
"I don't think so."
"In case you can't count, there are four of us, and one of you." The boy sneered, glaring down at her.
"Then get more men, and maybe this will be a fair fight."
He laughed, the sound echoing around the nearly deserted street. "You've got balls, girly, I'll give you that." He swung his hand back, taking a step forward to strike her. "But cockiness alone won't get you any- arrrgh" His words were cut off as Karma caught his wrist, twisting his arm around his back before slamming the palm of her other hand into his elbow. The crack of the joint being forced the other way filled the air, along with the other boy's scream of agony. Kicking him away from her, Karma faced the other three, who, rather than run like smart little mortals, took fighting stances.
They rushed her.
Catching the first one to reach her by the arm, she threw him away from her, down the sidewalk as the other two ganged up on her. Throwing well aimed punches and kicks, they managed to distract her from the first, the minute it took her to take them down enough for the boy on the ground to raise the weapon that had been concealed in the waistband of his shorts. She was kicking out the knee of the only one still standing when the sound of the gunshot reached her ears, and she dove instinctively, causing the bullet to wedge into her shoulder rather than where it had been intended for - her heart.
Turning, the young vampire's fangs lengthened, and she rushed the boy, uncaring of the two other bullets he loosed into her body until she was upon him. Grabbing him by the collar, she pulled him to her, leaning forward to sink her teeth into his skin...
The sound of sirens split the air.
Hesitating briefly, she took a deep wiff of his scent, committing it to memory. She'd find this one later. With a nip at his throat, she pulled away, pausing to pinch the nerve on the junction of his neck and shoulder to knock him out before she ran across the street, into the warehouse type building Liks's flat was. It was in the hallway that contained his room that she realized she was in pain, and at his door that she recognized that this pain was actually... well... bad. Wavering slightly at the door, she knocked twice before swinging the door open, using magic rather than the key.
"Liks-" She called, displeased to find that she could barely focus on the room past the doorway. "Don't- Don't freak out okay?" The blood from the bullets was beginning to actually seep through her tank top now, the one in her shoulder actually bleeding quite profoundly. "Don't-" And then she was falling forward, the bullet wounds bursting through her pain threshold as her eyes rolled up into her head.
