Beth stood in the dead center of the garden, kicking aside the fallen foliage that had collected on the large stone pathway that wound through the sea of brightly colored plants. Her eyes strayed up to the roof of leaves, noticing how the array of autumn colors siphoned the light of the setting sun so that it gave the area underneath it a perfect warm glow.
The air was crisp and chilly, yet a small taste of summer lingered with it still. A breeze filtered through the vines that were tangled gracefully with the aged white wooden framework.
In the far distance, one could faintly hear the sound of a piano being played. The music was soft and peaceful, and expertly performed, as if the pianist were feeling the music as opposed to just playing it.
No sane person would be able to deny that this moment was fantastically, undeniably, and simply...
Beautiful.
Unfortunately, Bethany was far too preoccupied at the moment to act like she was sane.
The woman frowned at the mess around her. There seemed to be no end to these paths, the sun was in her eyes, and that damned music in the back of her head wouldn't go away. She turned around a few more times, but it only deepened the pout on her face. Finally, she'd had enough, and yelled,
"WHERE THE HELL AM I?"
