    Ehalill Baltiskaya Man_in12

    Face Claim: Anna Popplewell
    Body type: Slender and short
    Height: 5'4"
Hair: Ehalill's long, thick, straight dark brown hair are usually kept in a nicely plaited braid. It happens rarely that she lets her hair loose, but when she does her hair reaches to her bottom.
Eyes: Her eyes, which are round shaped and set deep in the skull are slightly close-set. The colour of her eyes is a weird sort of grayish green, so you really can't tell the exact tone of her eyes. It depends on the light mostly. She's got a rather stern look, but when she smiles, her eyes tend to gleam merrily.
    Unique features: None
Dressing style: She pays little attention on what she wears. It could be considered practical, wearing jeans and long-sleeved shirts, but she has a slight fancy for wearing skirts. The preferable color of her clothes is either blue or green or purple. She detests the color pink and is never seen wearing anything pink.

    Likes:
Reading. She adores reading. It gives her chance to discover new worlds and places, something she also loves. But discovering new things and gaining knowledge is not the only reason for her love for books. It's the opportunity to leave this poor life behind she's forced to live and becoming a whole new person, even for a little time.
Rain. Ehalill loves rain and rainy days (probably because she's Cancer, a rather watery star sign). It has a weird kind of double affect on her. Sometimes rain can be very soothing, making the usually lively girl relaxed and quiet. But mostly rain gives her so much energy she could sat up three nights straight. She sometimes considered the reason for her love of stormy days lie in past - the day when she had been born had been stormy.
Discovering. Her love for discoveries can be explained by the fact that her home is in the middle of a forest. There's not much to do, except going out and discovering something new. For example, in a three hours wandering around in forest may result in finding at least two deer tracks, a new place to pick wild strawberries, a bird whose song is peculiar and four new anthills. Sometimes, Ehalill walks aimlessly around, without giving much effort to notice new things in the life of forest, and just lets her mind rest.
Making up songs. She also likes to make up little songs and sang them to herself when she's alone. The songs are simple and usually describe the things she sees, like the new blossom of an apple tree, or thoughts what have became too unbearable. Some people need therapists for that, but Ehalill just makes up a song. She doesn't pay much attention rhyming the words she uses, because most important is to say out what she feels.
Forests. Forests tend to be the places she feels the safest. Not to mention the fact that there are lots to discover in forests.
    Dislikes:
Her name. She dislikes her first name Artemiya, because she finds it hideous. In her opinion no one in their right mind wouldn't name their daughter after some goddess. Therefore she likes to use her other name - Ehalill - better. Not only that it sounds better, it has a beautiful meaning - dusk flower.
Spiders. Despite her being prone to discover anything possible, the life of spiders has never really caught her attention. Spiders just scare her and there's nothing she can do about it. Avoiding them yes, but it's not really an action to confront her fear.
Surrendering. Because she can be rather stubborn, when it considers her beliefs. Plus, surrendering is a weakness. Make her give up on something, and she'll probably loathe the person who made her surrender until she dies, well of course when she doesn't forget the reason why she got angry with you anyway.
Deceitful people. Ehalill despises deceitful people, because she values honesty. She puts honest first in everything and hates to use even little white lies. Sometimes her love for truth makes her unforgivable towards people who try to soften the reality by not mentioning all the details. In her opinion, truth lies even in little details and if not all the details are told, she considers it being huge problem.
Cauliflower. She dislikes eating cauliflower. It has an awful taste in her opinion and she usually tries to avoid eating dishes that contain cauliflower.
    Fears:
Spiders. She fears spiders without any reason at all. It's not sure what has caused the fear, but it is sure that the feeling of detest and fear are mixed when it comes to spiders.
Loneliness. Grown in family and always being surrounded with other people, she tends to freak out when there's no one she could speak with. Although sometimes she craves for solitude, she usually seeks the company of other people.
Volcanoes. This is also one rather irrational fear of hers, because where she comes from, there are no volcanoes, but she just fears them. This might be the reason why she would never visit Iceland or Japan.
    Strengths:
Team player. Her being the eldest child of her family has taught her teamwork. One can do things well by themselves, but if there are others supporting, then the outcome might be even better. Of course she feels that others in team must obey to her demands and obviously be honest with each other, which means Ehalill picks out the people of the team all by herself, otherwise the teamwork wouldn't go so well.
Responsibility. Another thing being the eldest child has taught her is responsibility, because someone has to keep an eye on the younger siblings doings when parents are not around. But it also had happened many times when her brother or sister had managed to do something that would gain their parents' disapproval, Ehalill took the responsibility and let her being punished instead.
Trustworthy. She considers herself being trustworthy. When a secret is trusted her, she would take it to her grave. Not to mention the fact that if she'd go boasting around with someone's secret, she'd have to detest herself being deceitful towards the person who had trusted her.
    Weaknesses:
Mood swings. Ehalill has irrational mood swings and bad temper, which in her opinion is her weakness when she tries to make friends with. It's not easy to explain to a new acquaintance that they've did nothing wrong, and it's the morning full of sunshine that makes her grumpy.
Nervousness. But the temper and mood swings are quite bearable when comparing them with another problem - nervousness. Being nervous makes her look vulnerable and unsure, and that's probably the main reason people would try to avoid making friends with her.
Her background. In wizarding world, her being raised as a muggle might come as an obstacle, making it hard to fit in, but her being a quick to adapt new situations, might help her in this occasion.
Personality: Ehalill is a girl who tends to mix up saying think first, then act, which gives the result of hastily made actions and regretting for what the outcome has to offer. This act first, you can regret afterwards rule is a must in relationships too. If she has said something that might occur insulting to her companions, she wasn't intentionally offensive. She was just being (brutally) honest. Ehalill has been trying to keep her honesty to herself, but it's like denying your need to breathe. Despite her hastiness, it's somewhat hard to gain her trust, because she's shy in the company of people she doesn't know, but when her trust is gained you'll have her friendship forever. She's supportive to her friends, always assuring their actions would have positive outcome. You would also notice that Ehalill is talkative, especially when she's nervous. She's got a creative mind and she adores reading. Her main flaw is her temper - she can get furious without any reason at all. The same goes about her feeling offended.

    Overall history:
Her mother Helena was a pureblood witch from a family of ex-Death Eaters. Growing up, hearing her parents praise the wizarding life, because they had the magical powers to make their life comfortable and therefore better than muggles, made young Helena loathe magic and her own powers. Once she was old enough to start her own life, she went to live with the muggles. Some might call it rebellion against her parents, but at that time, it was the only way Helena saw she could live without hating who she was. Living side-by-side with muggles, she used to ignore her powers and she acted as if she was a muggle herself. It took her lot of willpower to restrain her magical abilities, but she had made up her mind. It wasn't an easy decision she had made, but she was going to stick by it. At first muggles had kept away from her. Helena had had an aura of weirdness surrounding her and that made muggles suspicious. Not that they would've grabbed their pitchforks and lit the torches to go after her, but eyed her rather heartlessly. It didn't scare Helena away, but made her try more to fit in.

On one spring Helena saved a little muggle boy who had decided to go skating on the lake nearby. The ice wasn't thick enough to carry the boy and he fell in. Helena who happened to be there when the accident took place did not waste any time. She let her instincts guide her and went to rescue the boy. This self-sacrificing action gained the muggles trust, although some people still cast annoyed glances at her. She was still an intruder of their peace. But one by one they started to give in and offered young Helena a job as an art teacher in a local school. She couldn't be happier, because she really loved arts and enjoyed teaching kids.

One day Helena met a man and fell in love with him. At first she had thought him to be an ordinary muggle, but later found out he was a squib. The reason why Helena considered Rafail to be a muggle was quite simple - he didn't seem to notice the magic that tend to avail when he was in present. She had mastered restraining her powers, but being in love really interfered her efforts to act like a muggle. When Helena discovered Rafail being a squib, which took place just a little while after their weddings, she wasn't at all offended that he hadn't told it before, although she probably would've left him if he had announced him being a squib before they were married. She was still a fierce woman, after all but her love towards him was stronger.

Rafail Baltiskov, a very handsome man, a descendant of some Estonian sorcerers, had sensed Helena was no ordinary woman. Well, it was hard to miss the little things that happened in the presence of her, for example in one very snowy winter, when an apple tree started to blossom after Helena had rested her back on it's side. But he did not dare to confront her for what had happened. He knew some of his relatives having magical powers, although most people in his family were squibs. Rafail, being a reasonable man, accepted her wife's wishes to live like a muggle. To him it was easy to live like a muggle for he had no magical powers.

They were sure that their children, when they would have any, wouldn't have any magical abilities, because most of the Rafail's side of the family had no magical abilities and Helena was pretty sure that restraining her own powers would help her to erase the chance of magical powers descending to her children. They were pretty confident in their beliefs.

Until... It had been a stuffy day, and it was probably going to be a thunderstorm later. When Ehalill was born the thunder was rolling around on firmament. That gave her parents idea to name her Artemiya, deriving the name from Greek mythology (named after the goddess Artemis). Her first years had been ordinary and she was raised as any muggle kid in the neighbourhood. But on her 7th birthday her powers revealed. Her brother (at the age of 5 at that moment) and her sister (at the age of 3) hadn't shown any magical signs, and they did not showed any signs of magic afterwards. Seems like, her parents wish, to have children without magical powers, came only halfway true.

When the time had come to deciside whether Ehalill should be going to Durmstrang or continue her studies among the muggles, her parents were positive she should stay where she is, because as her mother put it: "She would have a very tough time there, Durmstrang doesn't accept muggleborns and although she's not a muggleborn, being raised like an ordinary muggle would certainly seem to the teachers there, she's one of the muggles." Rafail tried to calm her wife down as he pointed out that maybe Ehalill wouldn't have to go Durmstrang in first place, but it seemed to be useless. One night Helena's parents, who hadn't spoke with their daughter since she left to live among the muggles, contacted her and insisted that Ehalill must go and study in Durmstrang. They would organize her arrival and would pay for her studies and no objections was taken in count.

Ehalill hadn't seen her grandparents never before. Her mother had made sure her parents must never find her and had been pretty sure they would never interfere in her life again. But she had forgotten the fact that things in wizarding world have different rules and now her parents were organizing her life again. As said before, Ehalill had never seen her grandparents and was now anxious to meet them. She didn't know how to address them and she also didn't know what position should she take towards them. Her mother was definitely displeased with the current situation.

When Helena's parents came to took her daughter with them, she just stood there, hands crossed on her chest. Rafail was the one who talked to them and gave some encouraging with her and told her they would write to her. He too, didn't like their daughter being taken away with his wife's parents, but he thought it'd be better if he didn't say anything, because it seemed to him that her little Ehalill was eager to start this new discovery.

Ehalill had no expectations whatsoever, because she didn't know anything about Durmstrang. Her mother had never told about this weird-sounding place, probably because she had thought it would raise the memories of the person she used to be - a witch. Now it was her grandparents who had to tell her everything about Durmstrang and its grounds. Ehalill was listening it like it was some fairy tale she had heard in the muggle school she attended before. She couldn't really believe it what was told her. Dragons are real? And you can really learn doing magic somewhere? This can't really be true, she had thought. But she didn't have any chance but to believe it, because it seemed so odd her grandparents tend to cross the border without any problems.
