Jiya is half British and Indian from her father’s side, and half Italian from mother’s side. When she turned 6, her mother died from cancer and she, her brother, and father moved to California. When Jiya turned 8 her father remarried long-time friend, Taylor Lee. When Jiya got her Hogwarts letter, the family of 5 moved to London.

When she was 9 she went to a camp with some of her muggle friends where she got a letter from her parents saying that her brother was hurt during a mission. After that her brother quit his job and opened a book shop, where she helps every summer.
