Personality: Vasiliy is as independent as they come, living for quite some time fending for himself and doing all that he could to stay alive. He's a survivalist, courageous to a fault and confident in himself. He'll get the job done, whatever it may be.
He has a soft side, though he keeps it hidden until he finds a girl crying, or a child in need, or whenever Veronika is around. Most often he is closed off and cares only for himself and those he cares for. He doesn't have that many friends as he cares only for his survival and his alone. Or at least, he says that.

Overall history: Vasiliy was orphaned around the age of three. He couldn't remember his father for the life of him but his mother was always branded on his mind. The only reason that he could love his mother but hate his father is because he could remember her for the rest of his days. He was put into an orphanage, a place full of cruelty and poverty and hunger. He could do nothing as he watched some of his new 'family' die.
When he was seven, he ran away from the orphanage and became an expert in survival. He taught himself to steal and lie, protecting himself and helping those few others that he came across that needed, well, help.
He was still fairly young when he met Veronika, coming to find her starving. He made a quick steal from a vendor, handing over the stolen food to Veronika and quickly befriending her. He taught her all of the things that he had learned over the few years that he had been out the alone.
He found out about Veronika's magic when they were eleven. He'd always thought that she was different but he hadn't thought that she was a whole different race of human. He didn't shun her, however, as he would always be there for her no matter what. It took some time getting used to, at fifteen he is still weirded out by the magic thing.
Over the years, he fell in love with Veronika. She hasn't noticed and that's fine with Vasiliy as it makes things less complicated for her. It does, unfortunately, cause him some deep trouble further inside of him. However he does not let that get in the way of their friendship.
