Personality: Talia Brockett is timid and shy. She has a very giving heart, and makes the most loyal of friends once she has made them. She will bend over backwards for those she feels are friends, to the point where it is easy for people to take advantage of her. Easily entertained, Talia will laugh at just about anything. She finds all manner of life to be fascinating, and often views even the most negative of events as learning opportunities.
Being an only child has just as many downs as it does ups. She was rarely allowed to play with the children in her town, as her family were the only wizarding kind that they were aware of. As a result, she feels most comfortable reading or participating in conversations with those who are older than her. Talia struggles in new social situations, and feels most comfortable when other people approach her, rather than her approaching them.
She never really got to play many games growing up, but she is fond of chess because it is both entertaining and mentally stimulating. She is quite clever, having had her parents spend much of her youth educating her about the magical world she lived in. She picks up on intellectual concepts rather quickly, though her hand-eye coordination could use some work.
Talia has an insatiable curiosity, despite her timid nature. She finds that some of her biggest motivation for overcoming fears is just her wanting to know more about something. She does not perceive herself as brave, but there are moments where that trait shines through. If she witnesses what she believes to be injustice, she becomes quite vocal. If someone she cares about is in trouble, she becomes quite daring. She just needs an external motivation for those traits to shine through.

Overall history: Life in Little Hangleton had been quiet for Jack and Ellen Brockett. . They enjoyed their garden, in which Ellen grew several herbs with magical properties such as Asphodel, Wormwood, and Wolfsbane. St. Mungo’s finest had told them that they would never have a child, and they had decided to adopt. That was, until Ellen found out that she was pregnant. Talia Evelyn Brockett was a beautiful surprise for the happy couple. They were so ecstatic that they called together the only living family they had left, Mafalda Brockett, John's mother. She moved into the house at Little Hangleton, and helped them with the baby.
The first few years of Talia’s life were fairly typical of any child. She learned to walk and talk, just like all children. Her grandmother would play games with her, and the two of them seemed to always be smiling. When Mafalda got sick, Talia took it the hardest. She watched as her grandmother got slowly and progressively weaker. The happy woman that always had time to play a game no longer had energy enough to leave the bed. Talia would come into her room and read her stories. Her condition never improved. They checked her in to St. Mungo’s one day, when Talia was ten, and a week later she fell into a coma. Two weeks later, the family came to say their final goodbyes, and Talia entered the room just in time to watch her life slip away. Her grandmother’s death left a lasting mark on Talia. The pain of losing someone she cared so much about made her want to become a healer. She wanted to save other people’s grandmothers so that they would not have to hurt in the same way.
When she was 8 her mother sent her to her room as a punishment for forgetting to water the garden. She closed her eyes as she sat on the edge of her bed, wishing that she could be outside, playing in the park, instead of cooped up in her room. A few minutes went by, and Talia found herself on a swing in the park, a little ways up the road from her house. After that she rarely left the safety of her house in Little Hangleton. Her parents believed that going out into the community had too many risks. The population of the town was almost completely, if not all, muggle. They did not want to raise suspicions about Talia’s magical talents.
Her parents were thrilled when she received her letter to their alma mater. They had met at Hogwarts, and remembered all of their fond memories of the years spent within the castle walls. Jack reminisced about his favorite Charms lessons, while Ellen told Talia about the greenhouses for Herbology. Between the two, Talia was excited about her new school.
