L4- 1st years- Wiggenwald Potion

Shaun was in a good mood after the refreshing break, and hoped his students brain won't be overly jammed up with lessons, making them prone to blow up their cauldrons. He checked each of the workstations, his stock of ingredients, then took a seat in his desk. with a wave of his wrist, writing appeared on the board:

Alex finally found her way to the potions room. "Hello professor" said Alex with a smile. She took a sit close to the front but not all the way to the front.

Jamie walked into potions class still a little bit tired but didn't let it show. She saw there was a new girl in the classroom. "Hello professor" said Jamie sitting down in a sit next to the new person. "Hi I'm Jamie Malfoy and you are" Jamie asked.

"Hello Ms. Malfoy." Shaun nodded to Jamie. "And hello and welcome to Hogwarts, Ms. Gilbert."

Flora hurried into the class, then sighed in relief as she was one of the early ones.
"Morning Professor" She offered him a hesitant smile. The professor was a... well she didn't what to make of him.

Alex nodded her thanks to the professor and turned to the Jamie girl. "Hello I'm Alex Gilbert" said Alex with a smile. Alex got out what she needed for the class and waited for the class to begin.

J. J. came into the potions room and looked around. It was more full than some of her other classes.

"Hello," she said to the room in general before taking a seat, putting out her things and waiting for class to begin.

Aquila came into the room and slide into the spot beside Flora.

"Flora, Flora, Flora," he chirpped happily but quitely, "how are you today? Good break I trust?"

Damian rushed into the Potions classroom a bit breathlessly. Glancing at the clock, he was relieved to find that he wasn't late, after all.

"Morning, Professor," he murmured. The boy piled his things onto the desk next to J.J. and flopped down into the chair. Shooting the girl a quick smile, he proceeded to take out his class supplies.

Flora couldn't help but smile at his cheerful tone, "Hello Aquila, I'm fine, it was good, the break. And you?"

Valerie walked in after her sister this time, following the other girl and allowing her to lead. She felt a little more at ease this time around. Hopefully Professor Smith wouldn't notice her anxiety.

"Hello Professor." She smiled her 'political smile' at the man. She wondered idly if he was a Legilemens.

Rebecca felt her sister's easing nerves. She was still slightly nervous for some reason, but not as bad as the last class. "Hello Professor." She greeted in sync with Valerie, with a matching smile to boot.

People often told them how creepy they could be, and she knew Val would get a kick out of creeping this man out, if only slightly.

"Hello and welcome to our fourth lesson." Shaun started, "Now, Wiggenwald potion. Who can tell me what does it do?"

Alex raised her hand "The wiggenweld potion is a healing potion that can awake any person from a magical induced sleep" Alex said.

"Well done Ms. Gilbert. Ten points to Slytherin." Shaun smiled a little at her.
"Now who can tell me one if the ingredients and its use?"

Alex raised her hand again. "One of the ingredients is 2 drops of flobberworm mucus" said Alex putting her hand down.

Jamie raised her hand. "Another ingredient to the potion is one stewed mandrake" said Jamie leaning back in her chair.

J. J. raised a hand tentitive in the air, "Umm, I think you need Wiggentree bark?" she wasn't too sure on that one, it soudned obvious but... could it have been too obvious.

"Very good, all three of you. Five points each." Shaun smiled at them, "Now their uses, anyone? And we need two more ingredients. There are many ingredients added later by potions masters, but here in this class we'll be making the basic one. And you can write me an essay on what are the ingredients you might add to improve the potion for extra credits."
Then he waved his hand to write on the board

Wiggenwald Potion

Cures magical or potion induced sleep

Ingredients:
2 drops of Flobberworm Mucus-
1 Stewed Mandrake-
Chopped Wiggentree Bark-

Jamie raised her hand. "Well for the Flobberworm Mucus it's like a sticky green substance that is extracted from the flobberworm. The Mucus is used to thicken potions" Jamie said.

Alex raised her hand "Wiggentree bark is a magical rowan. It's bark is used in potion making". Alex lowered her hand and smiled a little bit.

Raising his head (upon which, his hair was dark blue), Damian put his hand into the air. "Mandrake is a restorative," he answered, "it helps return things to their original state. I believe the other primary ingredients are shredded dittany - which is another restorative; and powdered root of asphodel - which, uh... I think is mostly used as a binding agent in this case, though, if you use too much of it, it can make the potion poisonous."

Damian scratched his head, frowning uncertainly. Or was that one of the other ingredients? It had been a while since he'd practiced making antidotes with his sister.

"Right Ms. Malfoy, five points to Slytherin. Wiggenbark is the main ingredient here, which initiate the dissipation of the magic making the victim sleep. However thanks for trying Ms. Gilbert."

Shaun turned to Damian, "You summed things up nicely Mr. Gray. though I told you all, only to recite one ingredient so that others can take their tries. But we're running out of time here. Twenty five points to you."

"Alright, now we're going to the brewing part. If you have a question, now is the time to ask."

Damian flushed slightly. "Right. Sorry, sir, I forgot," he murmured. He'd just gotten a little too eager to answer. "Thank you, professor." Having no questions, the boy quietly waited for further instructions.

Shaun waved Damian's apology away with a smile," No harm done today. Now, no questions I presume? Alright, here goes the recipe."

1. Copp the asphodel root in even cylinders and Wiggentree barks in cubes.
2. Stew the mandrake for twenty minutes.
3. Shred the Dittanny and add it to the stewed mandrake.
4. Stir twenty five times counter clockwise and add the asphodel root in every five stirs.
5. Add the wiggentree bark and let it simmer for ten mionutes.
6. Stir four times in figure eight motion and add two drops of Flobberworm mucus.
