Damian held his breath for moment, another dull stab piercing his heart. "Yeah," he rasped. "She'd have liked it." He stared at the chocolate bar for a moment, then let out a heavy sigh.

"I think I'm gonna go, now," he said quietly, forcing a smile. "Nice talking with you, Aurelie." Pocketing the rest of the chocolate, he gave a small wave, then turned to go, shoulders hunched.

"Goodbye," Aurelie whispered, staring after the boy with a faint crease between her eyebrows. He had the look of a once-happy boy weighed down by misery, she had thought every single time she passed him in the Hufflepuff Common Room and now, she knew it was true.
