Lesson One- 2nd years

J. J. was ready this time when the magic entered her brain. Although the magic wasn't nearly as intense as the first time she would never say that she liked it. The tugging pull of it on her memory just felt like a violation of things that should not be so.

Still, expecting it gave her some edge to keeping her false name, but only some.

As the professor said, it did turn out to be surprisingly harder to keep a hold of Zach's fake name than her own, and she was already tired from the last two attempts. For somone who had never practice Occlumency before that moment, she was certainly doing a lot of it now, and it was becoming rather taxing.

Very shortly, maybe within five minutes but she thought it might have been less, Zach's name - his real one floated out of the depth of her mind for anyone looking to see.

Miles entered J.J.'s mind pulling up memories, the name Frank kept appearing, but shortly the name Zach appeared Miles he'd cracked through the shield

Miles then lowered his wand and smiled at J.J. " Well you did quite well considering this is quite a difficult skill, now we're going to try it again this time the moment I start pulling up memories of Zach and you see his face you must instanly think of the false name and you must not allow yourself to think of any thoughts or memories about him"

Miles then looked at J.J. with a smile " Ok so I'm going to start" Miles flicked his wand in J.J.'s direction and entered her mind once again and began pulling up memories of her brother

J. J. nodded and took the few moments to put her thoughts and defenses back up before the Professor started again.

Once more she managed to keep the fake name going for a few solid minutes - it was possibly a little longer this time - but Zach slipped back through, as he seemed to be doing.

Instead of giving up, though she tried her best to push those thoughts back.

Frank, Frank, Frank she yelled to herself in her head, as she sort of imagined herself pushing the memories that were slipping out back into a sealed box.

Miles was bringing up memories of J.J's brother her shield was strong all he kept getting was Frank, so Miles pushed harder and then Zach slipped out, though to Miles surprize J.J. was able to conceal it quickly and replace it with Frank

Miles was so happy J.J. was holding her shield strong, Miles searched and searched through J.J.'s mind for her brothers real name, but each memory which popped up was Frank

Miles then hesistated for a while but then decided that he would go through with it and really test J.J.'s skills he wanted to ensure she truely mastered this skill because he definately knew she had it in her. Miles summoned all of his mental power into an expolsive ball of mental energy and aimed at it at J.J.'s mind to truley test her shield

J. J. was feeling quite proud of herself - and consequentally losing some of her consentration - when a large wave of power came at her knocking down whatever defenses she had put up.

She watched in panic dismay as each memories started pulling from her. Memories she didn't even know she had - from when she was too small to remember - or had thought she had been to small to do so.

But apparently the memories had always been there, she just hadn't been able to access them them.

For a long moment she got too caught up in watching these memories she didn't remember go past, mixing in with the ones she did, and feeling the fondness for her brother - along with a longing for it felt like eons since she had last seen him - take over her.

But then one memory - a dream, one of her night terrors, although at the moment she didn't realize that - slipped past her and completely unsettled her. Zach was hurt, wounded - dying - and she couldn't do anything, wasn't doing anything.

Suddenly she was filled with a determination she didn't know she had. Her mixed up brain seemed to be associating the memory with the present, and she was filled with a complete desire to protect her brother - from that, from being identified.

Frank! the word resinated about her brain as if someone had yelled it into a megaphone; it was like a command, suddenly everything that had bee release flew back into the places they belong, and her walls snapped right back up.

My brother's name is Frank.

Miles came across a memory of J.J.'s brother being hurt, he felt as though it was a nightmare. Miles continued his force on attempting to break J.J.'s shield

Then Miles felt a surge of J.J.'s energy he was surprized at the power of this force, Miles then realised that this force was coming from J.J.'s strong love for her brother and her want to protect him. Miles was overwhealed by this power he tried to break the shield but it was impossible the shield was far to strong, Miles felt this power pushing him out of J.J.'s mind

Miles then withdrew from J.J.'s mind and looked at her with a smile, he was still shocked by her power " That was incrediable Miss Jones, using the want to protect your brother made it impossible for me to break the shield, 15 points to Hufflepuff"

J. J. smiled bashfully and looked down at the table. She was sure she would never be able to do it again. She wasn't even sure where it had come from that time, but she would take the praise.

"Thank you Professor."

Miles smiled at J.J. as she thanked him, " Ok so im sure that really took it of you, so we're going to give you a rest and write down some notes" Miles then opened the Professor copy of the text book and quickly flipped through the pages briefly scanning the information

Miles found the page he was looking for on name changes " Ok Miss Jones on page 143 you will find a couple of pages on name changes, including different techiques which might be used. So just read over those couple of pages and tell me when your done"

Miles then walked behind his desk and took a seat and opened the text book and began casually reading over a few of the chapters as he waited for J.J. to finish

J. J. nodded her head, relieved to not have to do anything for the time being and quickly but carefully did the work.

After a few long moments, she smiled back up the professor.

"I'm done now."

Miles looked up at J.J. as she stated that she had finished the reading, Miles smiled then got up from his seat then walked around to the front of the desk

" Ok so now im just going to give you a little quiz, just to reflect on what we have learned so far. Now when you were trying to conceal your brother's real name you discovered that using the emotion of love is highly effective in repeling Legilimens, what other emotions or feelings do you think might also be equally as effective?"

Miles looked at just encouragingly as he waited for her answer, though he was mindful that she probably felt mentally drained after those last to practical excerises

J. J. thought of her reaction to the first Professor.

"Well I'd imagine that anger might be helpful... determination isn't really an emotion," she bit her lip and thought but those were the only two she could come up with.

Miles smiled and nodded his head at J.J's answer, " Yes thats correct, anger is also another powerful emotion which can be used, the four main emotions which can be used are Love, Anger, Joy, Grief. These emotions posses such a strong emotional and mental force that when used to their full potential repels Legilimens instanly"

Miles then looked over at J.J. " So Miss Jones, its very important that you master your emotions so that you can use them to your advantage. Now while your love for your brother pushed me out, you must be able to hold and really belive the fake name, because if I was truely trying to gain access to your mind I would try again and its unlikely that your feelings for your brother would repel me again because I would be more prepared"

Miles flicked wand at the chalk and it began writing what he said on the board " I'll just get you to copy those notes down then we will start doing a few more excises to prepare you for your assesment" Miles flipped through Elizabeth's notes and found the assesment criteria sheet and began reading over it while he waited for J.J. to finish

Serenity walked in, wondering what the class will be like. The professor right now, said it was great. However, he was a different professor.

"Hello Miles." She greeted. "Sorry I am late, I got caught up doing something."

Miles looked up at the door as he saw someone enter, at first he thought it was a student but once he got a proper look he saw it was Serenity he smiled warmly as she apologised that she was late

" Oh Serenity, no thats fine it's good your here now the kids do need their proper Professor" Miles walked over to the desk and picked up his satchal, and walked back towards Serenity

" Ok, so I'll leave you to it" Miles smiled as began walking out the door

J. J. was copying down the notes Professor Bloxam had told her to look at when yet another Professor came in to take over her job.

She figured that this one must be her knew professor to stay, though she was starting to think the amount of teaching changes in this one lesson where making her more mentally tired than the exercises.

Herni walked into her Occlumency classroom to see only another student and one adult.

Wonder if everything's alright with the other students, she thought to herself. She cleared her throat loudly to catch the attention of the adult.

"Excuse my tardiness," she said politely. "I've just joined this class. I hope it's not to late for me to join."
