Lesson 1 (Fourth years)

Lenora sat at her desk waiting for her students. She was excited to be back at Hogwarts for another amazing year. She had been working on the lesson plans for each of her classes during the summer.

Diane studied for charms this summer. So she expects a good performance for herself this year. Unlike last year, of course. It was by far her worst subject. So, she's done a lot of training. However, there are some spells she can't just get right. And, what she's fearing isn't for her classmates to be hurt, but for her teacher to be disappointed. Again.

Diane went to class with a nervous smile. She greeted her teacher and sat on the front row.

Alright. I better ace charms this year.

Cepheus hummed to himself as he walked into the Charms classroom. He smiled brightly at the Professor and waved slightly.

"Mornin', Professor Malfoy." He said politely, moving to a seat in the classroom and setting his bag down.

Karma walked into the classroom with a certainty in her step. Charms was never a hard class for her, and she was looking forward to it. And with Professor Lewis retired, she figured it would no longer be that challenging a class. She smiled winningly at the professor.

"Hello, Professor." She chirped.

Another day, another lesson that Karma had beaten him to.

Jet glanced around the classroom, noticing the Gryff and Puffle. No way was he gonna sit next to them. "Hello Professor." He greeted, sitting next to Karma. She completely ignored him, but he was used to it.

Aireon entered the class room thankful he wasn't late. He chose to sit away from everybody, toward the front.

"Good morning, Professor," he greeted. He sat in his seat and got out his note taking material. He was ready for a new year.

Kenzi skipped happily into the classroom. A new year, a fresh start was her motto. She sat down after she beamed a smile at the professor.

Letti walked into the charms classroom with a large grin on her lips. She was excited to be back at Hogwarts, back to be at school in general, really. After her parents had forced her to be home-schooled for an entire year, it was refreshing to be back.

"Mornin', Professor," Letti said, nodding towards the only adult in the room, the smile never slipping from its place on her face.

She looked for a place to sit and decided to sit by the door. Not even home-school could shake that habit from her it seemed.

Kathy entered the classroom with her book on her hand.
She quickly took a sit by the corner and smiled to everyone else.

"Hello everyone we will be starting class now. Can any one of you tell me what the spell Depulso means" Lenora asked.

Cepheus tilted his head to the side.

"Depulso is Latin for 'thrust away' or 'push aside'." He stated simply.

Lenora realized what she said. "Yes that's what it means but i said the wrong thing, what i meant to say was what does the spell do, because of my mistake 20 points to Hufflepuff" Lenora said feeling stupid for saying that.

Letti bit her lip hesitantly. She knew what the charm was, but she was still nervous about being back in classes with people she barely knew.

"It's...the banishing charm, right?" Letti said, unintentionally making it a question. Clearing her throat she spoke more confidantly. "Depulso is Accio's countercharm."

"Correct Ms. Snow, 15 points to Slytherin. Today we will be working on that charm. Right here is a quill and I will use that charm to send it away. De-puhl-so" the quill disappeared. "Okay now I will hand you all a feather and you will use that spell to make it disappear" Lenora gave them all a feather. "Now you try, after you are finished with using it on the feathers we will be doing something different with the charm" Lenora told her students.

Diane took her wand and stared nervously at the feather.

She closed her eyes before saying, "Depulso"
But unfortunately nothing happened. Alright, of course, just as expected.

Alright, Diane. Concentrate.
She cleared her mind and just focused on the feather.

"Depulso"
Her eyes widened seeing the feather wasn't there anymore.

I did it on the second try!

Kenzi had been trying the spell out for a couple of minutes. She had not been successful, but she knew that she would be if she kept on trying. "Depulso!" chanted the young Hufflepuff. The feather was no longer there.

The feather sat on Letti's desk, unmoving. She had been staring at it for the past two minutes, not even attempting to do the spell. Tilting her head to the side thoughtfully, her blue orbs raked over the grey spotted feather slowly, taking in the detail. It was long, with white spots littered over it's surface.

Letti lifted her wand, and pointed it at the feather. Her eyes remained locked on it as she thought of what she wanted to happen. "Depulso," she said, but nothing happened.

She scrunched her nose up in frustration, and repeated the word again, but this time more clearly. "Depulso." Nothing.

Growling in irritation, Letti felt her arm tense, repeating the spell in a near snarl. "Depulso." Again, nothing.

"Fine. Whatever," she muttered. Relaxing in her seat, Letti let out a long, exhausted sigh, feeling a wave of calm wash over her. Now, ready to try again, she tried again. "Depulso."

And, with a growing sense of pride and accomplishment building up inside her, the feather shot across the room.

Karma smiled. Banishing. Sounded like tons of fun. "Depulso..." She muttered, feeling the spell roll off her tongue. She raised her wand and pointed it at the feather. "Depulso." She said with a confident smile. The feather disappeared instantly, not a word to the wise. She yawned and sat back, wishing her classes were more challenging.

"Excellent everyone, 20 points to everyone. Now today we will be learning how to make other objects, harder objects to be clear disappear, now does anyone want to try it in front of the class, show of hands" Lenora asked looking at her students.

Karma grinned and raised her hand. "I will, Professor." She said, standing and walking to the front of the class. She hoped she was banishing a classmate. That'd be fun.
