Personality: By nature, Rhys was rather happy-go-lucky. He was always the first to make a joke at his own expense, but last to make fun of anyone else. Kind-hearted and fun-loving, he was prone to laughter.

Until his remaining family was murdered while Rhys watched helplessly from the closet where his cousin had hidden him away.

He went through a period of being uncharacteristically withdrawn, preferring to shy away from people prone to asking questions he can't answer or offering sympathy that only makes things worse. Rhys had stopped talking or responding much at all to others, too caught up in grief to know how to cope.

Presently, he is state of flux as he tries to move past what happened. Rhys has developed a bit of a short temper and is becoming prone to reckless behavior he never really participated in before.

Overall history: Rhys' parents were killed in a potions-related accident when Rhys was a small child. Since that time, he lived with his maternal aunt, uncle and cousin, being warmly integrated into the household as one of their. Despite the tragedy of losing his parents so young – too young to remember them – Rhys had a very happy childhood.

His first year of school, Rhys met Lena Vorstenbach, falling for the girl on sight. It came as a surprise to the then-rather-clumsy boy that the girl liked him back. Though, he broke up with her towards the end of third year after hearing news of her kissing Charles Prentiss, his affection for the girl never diminished. In fact, the real reason he broke up with her wasn't that he faulted her, but rather that he didn't believe himself worthy of her. It was during their time at Hogwarts as exchange students the following year that the two of them got back together.

But a couple short months later, Rhys' remaining family was murdered by people wanting his cousin to make Philospher's Stones for them as he watched. Ana had ordered Rhys to stay hidden, to not 'even make a sound', concealing his whereabouts in the coat closet. Unfortunately, though no one could see in, the door had remained open a crack; Rhys could see out.

When he finally stopped being mute and withdrawn from the world, Rhys visited Zlobin Manor, which is now his. As part of trying to let go of his family, he also broke up with Lena.
