Practicing Occlumency Homework

Aurelie took a deep breath and tried to close her mind.
It wasn't easy. Falling leaves kept grabbing her attention, and the sun flickering through the thick trees fell directly on her face. But finally, she seemed to sink into herself, and there 'seemed' to be a wall over her mind.
That is, before a rabbit burst out of the undergrowth and scared her.

Maria peeked round the tree to watch the girl she was sure she had seen before.
"Occulmency," she murmured quietly, as to not disturb her.

"Arrgh! Stupid rabbit!" Aurelie cried, running around and chasing the rabbit before seeing a girl behind a tree. "Oh..." She squinted. "Hey, you're that new ravenclaw girl!" she said, and then stuck out a hand. "I'm Aurelie, but you can call me Aurie!"

Maria hesitated before shaking Aurelie's hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Maria Akazukin, but I'm in sixth year, I transferred here from Japan."

(OOC: ummm...you might want to check the sixth year thing with hades before)
"Oh! Cool," Aurelie said. "Where did you live in Japan?"

(OOC: Ah, then lets say she's first year then :'D)

"Oh, I lived on the mainland, but nowhere near Tokyo. I lived in Kyoto. Beautiful landscapes, great to draw for pictures," Maria answered enthusiastically. "I moved when I was about nine, my dad wanted to. I'm part Spanish as well, hence the Spanish first name."

"That's really cool," Aurelie said wistfully. "I've always wanted to go around the world, but our family is sorta tight on money, so we never did."

"I was going to go back there during the holidays, by myself, to visit my mom's grave-"

Maria clapped a hand over her mouth, embarrassed she had let it slip.

Aurelie gasped. "Your mom's grave?" She bit her lip. "What happened-if you don't want to tell me about it." She smiled softly. "It can't be any worse than what happened to my mum."

"I s'pose it's not that bad, she only died giving birth to me. Her name was Maria, too," Maria said, biting her lip, drawing blood from where she was biting so hard. "Dad moved because he didn't want to be reminded of her. I suggested Spain but he said no, because that was her home country. if you don't mind me asking, what happened to yours?"

Maria took two cookies out of her bag and offered one to Aurelie.

"Thanks," Aurelie said, taking the cookie and biting into it. "This is really good. Um, my mum. She's still alive, but she's fairly insane. Also, she killed my baby brother because he had been given the kiss by dementors. She goes to St. Mungos every month for fifteen days."

Maria gasped, almost dropping her cookie. "That is definitely worse than being dead, if you don't mind me saying. Can you try Occlumency with me? I'm kind of practicing to break into people's minds, and I'd like to see the extent of your ability."

"Oh no," Aurelie said, shaking her head. "I'm not practicing Leglimens or whatever that is. I'm practicing Occlumency, and I'm trying to prevent people from breaking into my mind." She half-smiled. "Ask Professor Hades: he's the expert."

"But it's a win-win situation!" Maria pleaded. "You can practice your Occlumency, and I can practice Leglimens."

"Okay then," Aurelie said, preparing her mind. "You do it."

Maria smiled triumphantly. "Okay."

She took a deep breath, gathered all her power, and then said, "Legilimens!"

Aurelie shivered as she tried to block Maria's attack. Maria was like a knife, driving at her shield over and over again, until the shield collapsed and then she felt Maria withdraw.
"I really need to practice," Aurelie said, smiling.

Maria grinned. "If this is one of your first times, that's pretty good. I've been practicing ever since I heard the spell."

"That's cool!" AUrelie said. "And..thanks!"
