...Work? (Aurelie/Alexis)

Lex squeezed through the bustling kitchen of the Blue Pomegranite, fumbling for a way out. The room was thick with steam and bodies pushing and rushing past each other. One particularly red in the face chef slammed into her as he walked past, then turned back to snarl at her. Lex stuttered about an apology. rubbing her arm where he had hit her. Definitely a bruise.

Taking a deep breath, she slipped back into the chaotic crowd that swarmed in the room.

Way out. Way out. Way out. Lex chanted in her head, not quite completely overcome by her claustrophobic panic. Lex's blue eyes widened as she spotted a door near the back and pushed her way towards it. trying to balance a few dirty trays she was carrying.

She swung open the door and stepped out eagerly, breathing in the clean, fresh air. The waitress leaned against the wall of the restaurant. This was the back of the restaurant, and there was no one hear to shout at her to get out orders more quickly. Well, there were a few stray cats looking for scraps in the bins.

Lex sighed heavily. Work sucked. No wander she had never bothered with it before.

Aurelie stepped through the alley and swore at her shoe clanged against the hard metal of the trash can. Several cats -- ginger, tabby, and all with battle scars -- hissed at her before scurrying away.

There was a heavy sigh and Aurelie walked around the corner to see a dark-haired woman leaning against the wall of a well known restaurant -- The Blue Pomegranate, Aurelie believed.

Even from a distance away, Aurelie noted the uniform of a waitress that the woman was wearing. Also, the woman was holding a few dirty trays, something that made Aurie raise an eyebrow.

"There aren't any busboys here," she said quietly, and true to what she thought, her voice echoed in the grimy alley. "Claustrophobic?"

It was just a guess, because most waitresses employed at the Blue Pomegranate did not look like they just came out of a small closet with monsters in it.

Lex smiled shyly at the young girl.

"Very." she confirmed, then grimaced a little. "That obvious, huh?"

"What are you doing here?" she questioned curiously, then blinked.

"Sorry, my name's Alexis. Well, Lex."

"Aurelie Bones," Aurelie said, holding out a hand and using her other hand to brush a lock of brown hair away from her face. "And no, it's not that obvious." She grinned cheerfully, subtly edging away from an unknown substance that was on the floor besides her. She gave it a sidelong glance and realized that it was something eggy.

Lex frowned a bit.
"You don't sound like you're from here, Aurelie Bones." she stated, nodding slowly.

The woman laughed a little. "Yes, I wouldnt go near that, it's probably been there for a week or so."

Lex rubbed her hands, trying to get some warmth into them. "What are you doing here, dear?"

Aurelie avoided the first two questions (first one verbally, second one -- well, she sidestepped around the rotten egg). "Oh," she said, trying to sound a bit airy-fairy, all the whilst looking the woman up and down. "I'm just... wandering around. And I came across alleys! Alleys are always fun to explore."

Lex wrung her hands a little self consciously as she felt herself being studied, but tried to push the silly feeling aside.

"Alleys are brilliant!" she grinned, then frowned and looked around her. "I'm not sure if this one is really top of the line, but hey- you never know what you'll find underneath a rotten egg." she laughed.
