    Lesson Two {firsties} Empty Lesson Two {firsties}

Post by Nova Doherty Mon Jan 09, 2012 7:49 pm

It looked like it was going to rain. The young professor, Nova Shay Doherty, wasn't happy about it. How the hell I'm gonna teach these kids anything about flying if it's going to start pouring any minute now, she wondered, sighing and frowning every now and so, for she was loosing it, literally.

She planned really awesome things for her firsties, real flying and all, but now it had to wait for the next lesson. And not to mention she was angry because one boy today asked her if she gained some wait. Of course I did, you idiot, I'm pregnant, she wanted to scream to him, but only said that it's none of his business.

    Typical, just typical.

She made a little shelter near the pitch, now it looked like a small room without any furniture. Only things that were there was pillows, many pillows, and a battered old blackboard. On it was written a list of her students, and an important message:

Looking up at the stormy grey clouds, Savannah grimaced visibly. Flying class in the rain, as cool as that would be, did not seem like something the Gryffindor wanted to do. Shaking her head, she headed quickly down to the pitch.

Spotting Professor Doherty underneath a makeshift shelter, she hurried towards her. Smiling at her as she drew near, she greeted, "Hello Professor Doherty!"

Azrali sighed as she walked through the sprinkles of rain to the little "fort" that the proffesor had set up. She was utterly annoyed. Flying was one of her favorite things to do, and of ccourse it just HAD to be raining. A small scowl was plastered on her face as she stepped in to notice a student already there with Doherty.

"Hullo Professor." She muttered, her Romanian accent sticking out.

"Miss. Lerran, Miss. Danescu, welcome to the improvised flying lessons. Feel free to sit anywhere you want", she told them and pointed to the pillows on the floor. A fake, but to normal eye convincing, polite smile was on her face, fake because her mood was bad, but she wanted them to feel comfortable, even though they were both Gryffindors and halfbloods also. Intelligent daughter of a ministry worker and an ambitious Romanian? That's something i can work with., she realized.

Blast! Bugger, blast and Merlin's beard! I'm LATE! Kirsten thought as she dashed ferverishly through the school grounds, feeling nervous at the thought of an impeding storm. She'd inherited that particular - and might she add annoying - trait from her grandmother. May God rest her soul, but with all her might Kirsten wished that thunderstorms didn't make her feel on edge.

She rounded the corner and was immediately thankful to see that only two other students and Proffessor Doherty were there. Phew.

She smiled politely, glad for the cover the shelter provided. "Hello, Proffessor," she greeted, a little less cheery than her ususal self, "lovely weather ... for ducks, innit?" she said, offering a smile to her fellow classmates as she took a seat near them.

Storm had been in a real rush, and hadn't realized that time actually existed before she was sure she was late. She ran as fast as she could, and got to a small shelter where she saw the professor and three students.
"Hello," she sighed, trying not to sound as grumpy as she was about the rain.

Sitting down, Savannah smiled up at the Professor. Looking up at the blonde's smile, she couldn't help but doubt it's authenticity. Seeing as the majority of her own smiles were fake, it wasn't difficult to spot it on someone else's face.

But she didn't want to question her about. First of all, she wasn't in the position to, and she highly doubted that Professor Doherty would take kindly to her question.

Glancing at the pale haired Gryffindor who'd been second to arrive, she smirked, "Don't like the rain?"

Cheerfully skipping out the door and into the light rain Alyssa hoped they would still be able to fly! She loved to fly, and loved rain! She had inherited her fathers perspective that it was never a bad time to go flying, so with that thought in mind, the Hufflepuff picked up her pace. Reaching the cool lookin shack the proffesor had set up she happily walked in and said hi to everyone. Then seeing their somewhat badly disguised looks of upset she said cheerfully, "My sister Casey always says that its instead of waiting for the storm to pass you should learn to dance in the rain!"
Thinking about her sister back home made Alyssa loose some of her ealier happiness, but then feeling a couple drops of rain through the roof made her happy again. She took her seat and drifted off into her own mind.

"That's very optimistic and informative, miss Black.", she responded, rolling her eyes. Kids, she realized, a smile escaping her face. I hope mine will be this cute.
But she couldn't let those kind of emotions to be shown so she made one of her tougher looks. "No dancing in the rain for us. Not today at least."

    "Take a seat."

Why was this girl so happy? It was getting on Savannah's nerves. As cool as it would be to fly in the rain, there was nothing enjoyable about dancing in the rain. Besides, if the girl wanted to dance, she could always go far away to do it. Sighing, Savannah stared out at the gloomy looking Pitch, before turning to the professor, "What will we be doing today, Professor?"

She turned to Savannah. "Read the sentence on the blackboard. The one underneath your names. Now think about it" paused and then continued. "It is quite obvious what we're going to be doing. Think of this as a preparation for flying. All of you, listen carefully."

"This is something me and my quidditch team used to do before every match. Focus on nothing, because nothing is your focus. Leave all of your worried behind, and imagine that you're floating on a cloud. Done?"

Alyssa read the sentance, Meditation is the key to concentration. She concentrated on emptying her mind, and slightly occluding it.
I wounder what we'll do next, was the last thing that went through her mind before she started meditating.

Nodding at the professor, Savannah turned to the board, quickly reading the phrase. Meditation didn't sound that hard. Really, it was only sitting down and biding your time. And if there was anything Savannah was good at, if was patience. Moving into a cross-legged position, Savannah began meditating.

Storm read the sentence. It brought back so many memories of when she was young. Her parents thought something was wrong with her. All the doctors told her to meditate. She'd often lost her patience with it, but now she could do it. Storm shifted her seating slightly, and cleared her mind. Within a few minuites she was gone.

Kirsten ran the sentence through her mind; "Meditation is the key to concentration" ... ok, she could do this. She liked spending time alone with her thoughts, so mediation could be a nice experience.

She closed her eyes and did as the professor instructed, letting a sense of peace and calm ovrtake her.

Olivia ran to the Quidditch pitch, hoping she wasn't late for the lesson. As she reached, she what was written on the board and almost laughed to herself. Meditation was so not her thing. But she knew she was willing to give it a try. She sat down, crossed her legs and closed her eyes. This just might work, she thought.
