Faye hoped from seat to seat, from row to row down the long Amphitheatre until she was in the very middle.

There was something very... odd about being in the center of an empty theatre, seeing nothing looking down at you... when there should be, something.

Still Faye stood and twirled, wondering just what she was doing outside, and what she was going to do from here on out.

It sat perched upon one of the stone rises, its appearance that of a large black bird as it watched the girl with beady eyes. Fluttering down, it morphed, its body becoming that of a human man. Large black wings protruded from its back, feathers lining its throat and forearms.

Closing the distance to the girl, it waited until her twirling brought her around to face it.

"You will come with me," it declared.

Faye twirled, and then jumped back with a shreik. What was that thing? Where had it come from??

She took a nervous step away from it and then another, her legs shaking, as her mind recalled news of a something attacking the wizarding schools... she had thought it had only been that english one... Hogwarts.

But here it was in front of her. She belatedly began to fumble for her wand - which would be useless anyways for her what could her weak magic do?

    "W-w-where? W-w-why me?"

It blinked, tilting its head to one side. Stepping forward, it pursued the girl as she backed away.

"My purpose must be served," it replied. "You will come with me."

Paloma walked quietly towards the Amphitheatre. She needed somehwere to get away from.. from.. from everything. It was one of those moments where she just needed to get away from her life. Not that there was anything wrong with her life. No, no, no at all. There was no drama, no feuds, no... broken hearts or anything. Nothing of the sort. Her life was rather dull, actually. She just needed somewhere she could be alone and not think. It a pretty difficult thing to accomplish, how can a person not think? But she knew exactly what she needed to do. She could either fly, swim, jog or dance.

It was too cold outside, so swimming was out; her broom was back in the dormitory, and even if she went back to get it, it would draw a bit of attention, so no flying either; and jogging, well, she had done her daily run at around three in the morning, when she couldn't sleep.

She was pretty sure the amphitheatre would be empty, there weren't many people about at this time of day. Lost in thought, she only realized she had arrived at her destination when she heard two people talking.

One she recognized as a 2nd year girl, Faye or something. The other was a... a... a thing with... wings?

She silently gasped, putting her hand on her mouth and hid behind a tree, not wanting to draw attention to herself. She drew her wand, just in case, though she knew how little effect her magic would cause. She hated times likes these. She was never any good in real-life situations.

Sacha was taking a walk, enjoying the fresh, brisk air as he walked the Amphitheatre.

Then, something caught his eye; a bird diving from a high point and turning into something humanoid. And Sacha hadn't sensed it cross the wards to begin with. The man apparated to the row where it faced one of his students, appearing behind the girl. Sacha's teeth gritted. This was that ruddy thing that had escaped Hogwarts!

Pushing the girl into a doorway, Sacha brandished his wand at the creature. "Reducto!" he snarled at it.

It looked at the man who had appeared. Aggression, anger. The man aimed a spell at it, but the magic simply washed over it without effect.

It's purpose must be served. This man would not interfere. The creature vanished from sight, reappearing beside the girl and hoisting her up onto its shoulder.

Then, it launched itself upward, powerful wings beating the air.

    "P-purpose? W-what Purpose?"

She shook, and jumped back as the bird-human-thing (What was it?) continued to advance on her.

She held her wand up higher but no spells came to her mind. What was she going to do with it?

It was at that moment the Highmaster showed up. She stumbled slightly as he pushed her out of the way, and caught herself with her hands on the way down.

She attempted to get further away as a spell was cast but next thing she knew the thing was beside her and had her in his arms.

She let out a shriek and unconsiously curlled into the beast as the ground suddenly got further and further away.

Post by Roman Sun Jan 29, 2012 3:50 am

Roman was near the top row of the amphitheatre, jumping from step to step, having a fierce battle with an invisible opponent, his sword glistening in the sunlight. He loved these moments where it was just him and his rival, even if that rival didn't exist.

Roman stopped for a little while, breathing in and out, sensing the air. He looked around, and saw Faye standing in the middle of the large arena. He smiled and was about to call out to her, when the creature appeared.

"FAYE!!!" He stuck his sword in it's sheath and sprinted down the steps. He saw the headmaster appear and shoot a spell at the thing. Once Roman was close enough, he pulled out his sword again and tried to charge it.

It disappeared, grabbed Faye and leaped into the air, but not before Roman took a couple of good swings at it. "FAYE!!" he called out desperately again.

Sacha was a bit surprised when the spell had no effect.

He was further surprised when the bloody thing disappeared from sight, only to grab the girl - Miss Hansoff - and launch into the air seconds later.

"Relashio!" he shouted, attempting to bind its wings. The ropes wouldn't hold.

"Stand back," the man snarled at the boy, summoning a broom. He hated flying, though he was plenty proficient at it. Sacha was in the air seconds after the creature, leaning against the handle to push it faster.

It was the only time Sacha had anything against the wards surrounding Durmstrang Isle. Even if he, as highmaster, could apparate freely on the isle, not even he could physically cross the wards.

The creature could. And it could carry another with it.

Sacha slammed into the wards, seconds before he'd have caught up to the creature in an attempt to reclaim his student. He lost control of the broom, falling rapidly. He had enough sense in him to apparate closer to the ground rather than falling the whole way.

    It still hurt.

Sacha lay on the ground of the Amphitheatre, staring up into the sky. That thing had just taken his student, and magic had absolutely no effect on it.

    Sacha was pissed.

He needed to pay a visit to Hogwarts.

She had to do something, she had to do something. She was pathetic, she was useless, she had to help.

"Reducto!" she heard the Headmaster yell as she was about to cast the first spell that came to mind. She hadn't even realized he was there. She saw another 2nd year, Roman, swing his sword at the creature, as he lifted off with Faye on his shoulder.

She couldn't just stand there behind a tree, the girl could be killed! She stepped out from her hiding place and yelled the first spell that came to mind, "Accio, Faye!"

I didn't work. She wasn't even sure anyone heard her. She saw the Headmaster fly up in the air, only to Apparate back down when he hit the wards and the creature was gone with Faye.

Paloma stood, shocked and eyes wide. She could have stopped it, she could have. Gult washed over her and she put both hands on her face, sitting down and leaning against the tree, looking at the Headmaster's and Roman's pissed expressions.

Roman looked in outrage at Sacha, furious that he was being so quickly pushed aside. Watching the highmaster uselessly chase after the beast, he threw his sword on the ground in intense frustration.

If only he had a broom, if only he were a little quicker, maybe he could have saved her.

Professor Rusnak fell to the ground. He wasn't sure what else to do now. Faye was really gone. He grabbed a rock from the floor of the arena and tried to throw it in the direction of the monster, only to barely land halfway up the steps of the amphitheater.

All Roman could do was helplessly stand there, fuming.

Paloma lifted her head as she heard the sound of a rock hitting the ground.

"I know you're mad," she called "But throwing rocks around won't help get Faye back, Roman."

She sighed. She could've tried harder. At least Roman and the Headmaster did things that could've been helpful. What had she done? Hid behind a tree, shocked and then cast the first spell she thought of. A stupid summoning charm. She wasn't even sure the charm worked on humans, she only remembered her sister teaching her it the summer before. She could've at least summoned her broom, like Professor Rusnak, or something useful.

"A summoning charm, really Paloma?" she muttered to herself.
