History:

Claude’s father was French and his mother British. They were both wizards and met when Madeline moved to France to live with her aunt after both her parents died in a car crash. Claude never got on with his father overly well, occasionally clashing with him on views, though a lot of it was childish rebellion and a desire to be his own person, despite them being quite similar in reality.
Claude grew up as the elder sibling to Iréne Delanoir, and was the slightly reckless of the two. After he graduated he went travelling the world, working as a Curse Breaker to pay for his travels, living a very simple life, and enjoying his independence. While he was aboard his sister had twins and he developed a dislike for their father, but remained abroad, only returning to France when their parents died, taking on the role of helping Iréne raise her children. Because of this he works now for the Ministry, though he does miss travelling, being quite an adventurous person.

Other:

Despite not wanting a family of his own, Claude’s life has become very centred around his family. He’s very close to his sister, and she’s very precious to him, being the reason he gave up travelling the world and being a Curse Breaker. He loves his niece and nephew, and is very proud of them both, spoiling them both rotten whenever he can, and is fully ready to admit that they have him wrapped round their little fingers. He isn’t ready to admit that the more time he spends with them, the more he wonders if he would’ve liked children.
Claude has never had a very serious relationship however, flittering around and being slightly fickle, preferring to indulge in flings than long-term commitment, not liking the idea of committing to someone and therefore relying on them. Because of this he denies the fact that he relies on his sister, preferring to think that she relies on him only, though he isn’t entirely sure what he’d do without her to look after, and her to make sure he stays in line.
Because of Claude’s reckless and slightly rebellious nature, he’s never been a very sensible person of sorts, preferring to do instead of think, unless it comes to work. In day to day life Claude lives on his whims, and does not enjoy being reminded of the fact that he’s now thirty.
