Yule Ball (3rd years and up)

Alexander sits in the fully decorated great hall in his semi-gothic floor length dress robes. He thought they were decent and he clutched his fathers old walking stick while wearing the family ring. he was awaiting his secret date. he hadn't told anyone thinking he'd be in trouble if he had. well all he could do was wait and see. he sighed and put on his best poker face

Casey walked into the Yule Ball, marvelling at the exquisite decorations and nervously smoothing her dress. It was dark blue, with a sweetheart nekline, intricate silver beading on the bodice depicting flowers and vines, and a tiered, floor legnth skirt. She was secretly barefoot under her dress, hating to wear heels because they always began to hurt. She spotted Alex sitting in a chair on the edges of the Hall and walked over.
"Hey Grumpy," she greeted him. "Who're you waiting for? I could probably feel your anticipation even without my extra abilities."

He jumps "oh its only you.... im sorry i just am waiting for someone i didnt really wanna be with...." he sighs and plays with his ring anxiously

She flopped down in a chair next to him. "Yeah, it's only me." She shot him a teasing smile. "Why are you coming to the Yule Ball with someone you don't want to be with? Seems kind of pointless to me," she pointed out bluntly.

He sighs "well you were taken and comming alone is practicalty social suicide...so there."he half smiles

Casey felt slightly bad for him and guilty that she'd left him alone, but she teased him instead of apologizing. She had a feeling it might embarrass him. "Well look at that, you're making me blush!" she said, imitating a Southern accent and covering her cheeks. Her instinct overcoming her, she looked at him and said softly, "I'm sorry. Really. But when you're taken, you're taken and I don't run around behind people's backs."

His face darkens when she teases him"that makes you respectable"he picks up a butter beer and opens it with a sigh. "so whos the lucky fellow?"

Casey blushed. "Liam Ashton. I haven't seen him here yet. I'm not sure if he went home or stayed here for the Ball. Who's your lucky lady?" she challenged back.

He cringes.and thinks 'liam? that ass! i told him everything.... fool hell pay' she sees the rage in his eyes and his eotions are the color black.

Casey leaned back a little from Alex's pure, red tinged black, rage and hatred. She put her hands on either side of his face, looking into his eyes. "Calm," she ordered, sending a wave of calming energy through his body. "Don't hate Liam for it. He didn't know. Hate me, if you must hate someone." She dropped her hands and looked away across the room. "Go on. All my friends except my sister ended up hating me. Why not you as well?" She looked back at him with eyes that flashed. "But don't hate Liam for loving me. He doesn't deserve it and he had no way of knowing you would love me too."

Alex drinks and sits silently. "no i cant hate you..... i apologize for my behaivior. not my fault. " he forces a smile. "so is he comming with you...?" his emotions turn navy blue with sadness

Casey gave Alex a crooked smile. "Thanks. I'm sorry for snapping at you. It was uncalled for. You're just... wistful." She decided it would be tactless to say jealous. "I actually don't know if he's here. I think he went home for the holidays." She felt his emotions get really sad. "You're gonna make me cry," she muttered, wiping her eyes. "Particularly strong emotions kind of... bleed into mine. It really sucks on Mondays, because everyone's so tired. Quidditch matches just blind me."

he sighs and looks down "at least youre not alone and have something to keep you happy" his emotions warp with embarassment and depression

"Hey cheer up," Casey said gently, knocking him with her shoulder. "We're here right now. Do you want to dance?" She pulled him up without waiting for an answer. "Come on, I love dancing. Don't step on my feet," she warned. "I haven't got shoes on." Then she started moving her body to the beat of the fast paced song, jumping around and generally being crazy.

His emotions become even more embarassed he thinks 'crap! i cant dance!' he just stands there awkwardly waithing for something to happen in order to save him from making a complete arse of himself

"Nope. You hang out with me, you dance," Casey announced. She grabbed his wrists and dragged him around. "I can't help you dance if you don't let me help you dance," she said. "Wait, did that make sense? Never mind." Casey shook her head. "Come on. Feel the beat. It pounds through the room and into your body and it helps you move." Casey switched her hips and swung Alex's arms to the beat. "I will make you dance whether you like it or not," she promised.

he blushes a little. "o-ok.... is this right?" he dances really well. he stops because he thinks its wrong. "no no no i suck im sorry..."

Casey stared at Alex. "My Godric, you're a natural! You should dance more often. Come on, do it again!" Casey started dancing again, not caring what she looked like and just having fun. She grinned at Alex. "See how much fun this is?"

he nods slightly "my date should be here soon..."

Casey shrugged her acceptance of that fact. "Who is it? You never did tell me. Cme on, now I'm curious! Tell me!" She poked him. "Please? Please? Please? Please?" She poked him with each word.

He laughs "i dont know if shes gonna show up... i slipped her a note. i dont evnen know if shes comming." he chuckles

"No avoiding the quetion!" Casey declared. "Tell me who it is! Come on, I'm dying of suspense over here! Pleeeeaaaase?" She gave him puppy dog eyes. "I will make you tell me, one way or another."

he smirks "oh really now? how will you do that?" he sits back down and stares at the door.

Casey raised an eyebrow. "You're seriously challenging me? You should know better by now." She poked him in the stomach, tickling him. "TELLMETELLMETELLMETELLMEEEE!!! Don't make me jump on you, cause I will tackle you, fancy dress or no." Her face was serious. She meant it.

He laughs "i cant tell you! shes a surprise! go ahead and tackle me.... i wont care" he laughs "now stop that! i cant breathe!!"
