Knife to a Gun Fight Empty Knife to a Gun Fight

Post by Ashleen Beneparte Mon Apr 23, 2012 4:48 pm

Ashleen had full confidence, as she sat in her chair, feet on the table, flicking her pocket blade around in her hand, that she could handle this class. After all, her father had been drilling her in such things since she was six.

    This was old news.

But at least it was something to do. Hanging her head, letting her ponytail dangle over her chair, she stared at the ceiling, her brain checking out as her hands continued to play with the simple weapon she figured she probably wasn't supposed to have on her but didn't really care.

Charlotte found her way to the weaponry classroom. She wished the winter holidays would have lasted a little longer but of course, school had to get in the way. She was tired though, the Slytherin was dead tired. She wished she would have had more sleep on the boat ride here but the wretched thing kept moving and everything. It made her sea sick. She even threw up once.

She wasn't the first one in the class, which irked the girl. She wanted some sleep before class started.

Too late, she thought. Taking a seat, she did her usual position. Feel on the table, her back leaning against the back, crossing her arms and closing her eyes.

The tune she was whistling was an old Gaelic road tune. She had learned it during the times she had slipped off and just listened to the witches and wizards in Ireland that actually worked for a living. In her right hand Ciar flipped her long Bowie knife in long, slow circles into the air, always catching it on the hilt. Subconsciously her senses scanned the classroom, still slightly wary after the professor's entrance last time.

A brace of throwing knives under her robes in a belt that hung from left shoulder to right hip was a new addition to her arsenal and made it slightly awkward in sitting down since she wasn't used to them. Ciar took her seat and continued flipping the knife, always keeping her senses open for anything around her.

Luc seemed to like this lesson most, or the professor at least. He was never simple and that made him an interesting opponent. During one lesson his mind must have played out a billion different scenarios of Aurmerles death. It was quite the viewing.

As he entered the class he eyed the students, taking in those who were there and their traits. Most seemed to be familiar with knives, the other seemed to be sleeping or keeping their talents a secret. That Luc valued. Without a seconds though he headed off and took the seat beside Ciar, checking the ceiling for any sign of the professor but he was no where to be seen.

Frodo hesitantly walked into the Weaponry classroom and was relieved to find that he wasn't the only one. This was another subject he was trying out for this year, and so far he liked it.

"Hey everybody," he greeted with a smile and sat down.

Ash watched with uninterested observance as the room began to fill up, looking over every person - none of which she knew, except perhaps beyond a word or two - as the came in, making tiny mental notes before moving on to the next one.

Her eyes fell on the girl who had come in just after her, leaning back in the chair. She looked too comfortable. Sliding back in her chair she moved until she bumped against the table just behind her, the one the girls feet were on. Jodtling it slightly.

It had really been a lame attempt at upseting hte girls balance, Ash's heart hadn't really been into it, but...

There had been nothing better to do, and after all it was a weaponry class. If there was anywhere to be alert, she felt as if this was it.

"Right!" He said barging into the classroom, not bothering who he startled or who he hit with the door on his way in. "On your feet, you're all younger than me, you don't need to sit." With a wave of his wand all desks disappeared leaving all those students sitting on them sitting mid air.

"Great now lets move on. I take it you have the swords you made last lesson yes?" He asked pulling out his own knife with a beautifully carved handle. "Now we learn how to use them. Name me as many ways as you can that a knife can be used in a fight."

Tre dodged the door effortlessly from his place along the wall, keeping well out of the vampire's way. Said blade was in its sleath hanging from his belt. He's been looking down on his knife as the professor entered, the side-step barely ruffling his feathers.

"Parrying." he said, keeping a foot on the wall, his eyes still on his golden blade. "And various other things, depending on your grip and the way you hold it." He shrugged. "You can even throw it, if your aim's good enough."

Ashleen snorted and - being Ashleen couldn't help but adding, "Not that you're aim ever was any good."

She flipped her hair and rolled her shoulders, not really caring if her statment was true or not - she just enjoyed teasing the boy - nor did she care if this was the place to do it or not.

"Slashing an opponent's throat or a close range stab between the ribs or to the gut," Ciar offered keeping a steady eye on the knife she was tossing. At least the bugger hadn't decided to drop from the ceiling this time. Somebody might have had an accident if Ciar jumped while playing with her blade.

Slipping her hand unobtrusively into Luc's she sent him a small smile. It felt nice to have someone that she could sit with during class and who she could talk to outside of class. Giving his hand a small squeeze her grey eyes moved back to her knife, even though she really didn't need to watch it to be able to do it.
