To Be a Child

Alexander runs in laughing at how cold the water was. He was surprised and thrilled at the same time. he dove under the wate and came up coughing. "its great.... though it did go up my nose..."

Casey laughed. "Yeah, that's why you breathe out underwater." She pushed water at him, sending a wave over him, then dove to avoid his answering splash, surfacing on the opposite side of him. "Missed me," she said lightly, giggling.

He smiles and goes underneath her and pops up behind her "did i?" he laughs and splasghes her from behind. he was having the time of his life. he didnt knmow why he felt so happy around casey and was an open book, but not with anyone else

Casey spluttered as a wave hit her in the face, then narrowed her eyes at Alex. "Oh that's it. You're going DOWN!" She planted her feet firmly on the ground, then launched herself at Alex, tackling him into the water. She resurfaced laughing and wiping water off her face.

He comes up couching and laughing. he felt really close to casey. she was like a sister to him. he had only started feeling happy after she came into his life. he laughs even harder. "casey thanks im having the time of my life."

Casey grinend. "You are very welcome. That's the entire point." She paused, thinking. "Don't take this the wrong way," she said slowly, "But I think I'm glad I already had Liam in my life before you came because I would have dated you, and I don't think it would have worked. I like us better like this- best friends, brother and sister, messing around and having simple fun together. I'm officially adopting you as my brother now. You cannot escape it!" She grinned at him.

He laughs. If it hadnt been for liam he hadnt of met jamie either. he really hoped jamie didnt take his friendship with casey the wrong way, the way liam originally took it. he half smiled "i acccept your offer miss casey"

Casey did a little happy dance in the water, which included much splashing. "Awesome! I never had a brother before, just my sister. You will be an awesome brother. Wait, are you older or younger than me? My birthday's May 23."

Alexander nods with a smile "we shall celebrate joyously" he hugs her. "ive never had a sibling so this should be interesting" he smiles "my birthday is october 31st"

Casey grinned. "Cool. You're my baby bro!" She put him in a headlock, for all he was so much taller than her, and mussed his hair. She released him, smiling, and dove backwards into the lake, swimming like a dolphin to a point five yards away. "Catch me if you can little bro!" She dove again and swam away.

he swims after her laughing. she was his best friend. she didnt care h e was born on halloween most people think ihes a freak for that. "gotcha!" he laughs tapping her on the back

Casey laughed. "Yep. Caught me. I submit the fact that you are taller than me and can take longer strokes! I am not to blame!" She falls back into the water dramatically, making a big wave. Surfacing again, she grinned. "I love doing that."

He wipes the water off his face and laughs "oh big sister you are quite dramatic." he makes a black rose appear "yet not as much as i i am quite afraid"

Casey beamed to hear Alex call her 'big sister'. It made her feel very protective and pround of her little brother. "You're really going to challenge a girl as to who's more dramatic?" she asked incredulously, one eyebrow raised. "How exactly is a black rose dramatic?" She put a hand to her forehead. "Alas, the poor boy is dazed and confused! He knows not of what he speaks, and falsehoods and mistakes spew from his mouth in a never ending stream!" She pretended to faint into his arms, then grinned up at him. "Beat that," she said smugly.

"i have and you know it" he pulls out his knife "remember my dive off the snake/" he laughs a little but then sighs "im sorry for resurfacing that"

Casey sobered quickly. "Not funny Alex," she muttered, crossing her arms ovver her torso and shudering. "That was incredibly terrifying. I do not appreciate that being brouht up. I do accept your apology though. I know it wasn't your fault."

Alexander blushes "stupid deamon took control again." he hugs her and shakes "im sorry casey im so so so sorry."

Casey hugs him back. "I know you are." She rubbed his back soothingly, comforting him. "Shh, it's ok. I'm here to help you and that damn deamon has to go through me if he wants my little brother. And trust me, he won't like fighting me." She smiled at him. "You ok now?"

Alexander nods smiling "yeh i am thanks casey." he is pulled under suddenly. bubbles surface but not alexander

Casey was about to smile when Alex suddenly went under. "Alex!" she screamed, diving after him, she scanned frantically until she spotted him, thrashing. She couldn't see what held him, but she rocketed toward him, grabbing his arm and swimming with strong strokes toward the surface. Whatever had its grip on him fought, but she fought harder, pulling Alex after her. Just as she thought her lungs might burst, she broke the surface with Alex in tow and took huge gasps of air. She swam to the beach, pulling Alex onto the shore after her. She bent her head over his mouth and was relieved to feel him breathing, though shallowly. "Come on Alex, wake up."

He coughs "im ok... it was the damned squid..." he shivers "dont worry though casey ill be fine." he rubs the back of his neck, embarassed

Casey glared at the lake, as though the squid would feel her hate. "Stupid squid!" she yelled. "I'm gonna tell the house elves to make sushi out of you and I'm gonna enjoy every bite!" She got up in a huff, offering a hand to Alex. "Come on, we should probably put clothes back on."

He nods and gets dressed. he is pale with cold and shock. "casey ill be fine. now need to threaten the creature with japanese food. thats going a bit far." he chuckles a little

Casey smiled a bit as she slipped her shirt and skirt on. "Nothing is too much for the stupid chunk of seafood that almost drowned my little brother. So. What do you want to do now? I'm kind of out of ideas."

Alexander shrugs "well there is always endless possibilities. where should we have our double date? we should plan that before anything else."
