Crying and Dying?

Eva walked up to the astronomy tower with tears still going down her cheeks. She was sobbing and hated it. She coughed and sat down wiping her eyes. She was being silly. She shouldn't care this much about him. She really shouldn't. She sighed and coughed again into her sleeve. She rested her head and Myles her cat came in her lap. He of course knew where to find her. He knew her so well. She sighed and looked around knowing no one would look for here.

She sighed again and petted Myles again coughing in her hand. She pulled back and looked at her hand seeing blood. She looked down at Myles and shooed him off her lap. She stood up and felt a bit dizzy. She tried to take a step but fell over, in a faint.

Aragorn stretched as he walked up the Astronomy Tower's stairs, yawning with exhaustion. He couldn't help feeling a sense of overbearing dread. Something bad was going to happen, said his gut anyways. He had never been one to follow it so he ignored it and kept walking up the stairs, tucking his wand in his back pocket.

He hit the top step and rounded the corner, stopping dead in his tracks when he saw the girl on the ground. He couldn't be sure if she was asleep or not so he moved closer to her and leaned down on his knee, shaking her shoulder a bit. He frowned, there were tear streaks down her cheeks and a cat laying close to her. Maybe she was just sleeping, he thought to himself. He couldn't be sure what was wrong with the girl. He checked to see what house she was, noting that she must have been a first year because of how tiny she was, and grimaced as he saw the Hufflepuff signs to her.

He shook her again and whispered, "Hey... Kid, wake up. If you don't I'm going to take you down to the Hospital Wing and sit with you all night. Kiiiiid talk to me."

Eva was slowly coming around. She looked at the boy who was trying to wake her and still felt dizzy. She coughed again bringing up more blood from her lungs. She looked at her hand and wondered if she could even take a step with out falling over.

"I think the hospital wing would be a good idea" She said and Myles meowed in agreement. She looked at the cat, "Go see if anyone is there." She told the cat who responded with a, 'yes ma'am.' before going off down the stairs.

"Uh... would you like me to carry you down the stairs, kiddo?" Aragorn asked, wondering why he was acting so grown up when he was only a couple years older than the newbie. He watched the cat pad off down the stairs and he attempted to make a comment about it but then shook his head and looked back at her, concerned for her well being.

He attempted to slip an arm under her legs and neck, trying to pick her up but uncertain whether or not she would allow him to. He didn't want her lying on the cold hard ground, not when she was sickly like this.

Eva nodded, sure she couldn't walk. She sighed and wondered if she would be ok. She had no clue what was wrong with her. She sighed and thought lightly so he could carry her He was only a few years older than her.

"Can you carryme?" She asked while coughing. She had no clue why it was like this. Surely nothing was wrong.

"Of course I can," He smiled gently, picking her up and standing up while keeping her tucked close into him. "If you need to cough, cough into my shoulder. I don't want you moving anymore than you need to." He turned towards the staircase and started after the ongoing cat, turning her to the side and going down slowly. "How hard did you fall?"

Eva smiled lightly and nodded. She didn't fall that hard but she felt weak and dizzy. She sighed and coughed into his shoulder like he said. She had no clue what was going on.

"Not too hard. I fell because I was dizzy." She said feeling dizzy still. "Don't worry about Myles. He's going to make sure that someone is there." She said so he wouldn't worry about the cat. She looked at him and hoped that he was ok carrying her, and that he wouldn't mind the blood on his shirt.

"Don't worry about me, or my clothes. I've got other shirts." He smiled at her again, answering as if she read her mind. He glanced down the stairs as he finally saw the bottom, stepping onto the ground and looking around to see if there was someone else that could run off after that cat and... well... speak. "Uhm... I might have to run with you if you get any better. I assume by Myles that you mean the cat. So I won't worry over him."

He pulled her even closer to him, cradling her gently as he started off into a light jog. He didn't want to upset her stomach but he didn't need her getting any sicker than she already was. At least she hadn't hit her head hard, that was reassuring.

Eva nodded smiling slightly. She really had no clue what was wrong with her. She had had a cough for a while but it wasn't anything to worry about. She sighed and was glad that he was moving faster. She closed her eyes and saw that Myles had come back. He told her that the healer was there. "Well the healer is there so we should be ok." She told the ravenclaw.

Eva closed her eyes and said a silent prayer. She didn't want to be sick It was never any fun. She hoped that this was just an after affect from that dratted snake and nothing worse.

"What do you think caused this... what's your name?" Aragorn asked curiously, slowing down and looking around uncertainly. What floor was the Hospital Wing on? GOD DAMMIT! He yelled at himself, taking off in the direction he'd seen the cat come from. He hurried down that way and then down some more stairs, expecting some help from the cat.

Eva shook her head. She had no clue. She wished she did, then she could fix it. She sighed and saw that he looked lost. She turned slightly and whispered. "Lead the way Myles." to the cat who scoffed, 'three years here and has no clue where the hospital wing is.' She almost smiled at the cat. She closed her eyes to try and get rid of the dizziness that was still there.

"S-sorry... I've never needed to go to the hospital wing..." Aragorn mumbled, extremely embarrassed now. His face was as red as a turnip as he followed the cat down to the hospital wing. "I... uhm... I'm Aragorn. What's your name, firstie?"

Eva shrugged and shook her head. "Don't worry about it." She said to him, or tried to. She always knew where things were because she got someone to show her. It wasn't a big deal. She just had an annoying cat.

"I'm Eva." She said before coughing in her arm yet again. What was wrong with her. She had been coughing for a while but not like this. "Thanks for finding me , by the way, Aragorn. I like your name, it reminds me of that movie, Lord of the Rings." She said a bit more like her normal self, except for the fact that she was now almost bone pale.

Aragorn grinned, "That's why I was named Aragorn. Except, well, my mother named me after she read the book. My full name is Aragorn Gimli Hawthorn. She was a nerd, so I've heard." He followed the cat a little ways more, taking the same turns as he did and trying to feel a bit... smart... though he was following a cat regardless.

He glanced down to check on her from time to time, ignoring the blood on his shirt that clued him in on how sick she really was. What exactly could this sickness be doing to this girl? Was it a lung cancer? Was it a venom that slowly ate away her insides. He shuddered silently and shook his head, looking back up at the area in front of him. Maybe she has the same illness as my mother did... he thought silently.

Eva smiled slightly, and looked at him. "Was you mother a muggle?" She asked him wondering. She was ignoring that fact that she was sick for the moment. Really she might as well get to know the boy who was helping her.

"Whats wrong?" She asked seeing that he shook his head and looked a bit sad. She was always worrying about people. This boy had already proved himself trust worthy. He helped her when she needed it, he didn't have to.

"Yes she certainly was. Unfortunately, I never got to know her. My father is the wizard in me. What's your blood purity?" He asked, knowing that blood purity had still not become a thing of the past. He had seen many muggleborns harassed for their bloodlines. He didn't like it too much, but he didn't step in to stop it either.

He glanced back down at her, "Your lungs concern me. You shouldn't be coughing up so much blood." And he didn't elaborate any more. He didn't want to.

Eva nodded and felt sorry, it would be horrible not to know your mother. "I'm sorry." She said softly. "I'm muggleborn. Mudblood and proud." She said thinking of Certh and his word for her blood status. She didn't care, she was proud of her family and would never wish to be different.

"Oh." She said wondering if that was what was wrong with her. She didn't want to know anymore. She was a bit scared. She had heard of Lung cancer when one of her friend's grandmother had died from it. But she didn't smoke, no one she knew did either. Surly she wouldn't have that.

"Don't worry about it. Thirteen years without a mom and I'm doing pretty alright." He smiled down at her, continuing his walk towards the Hospital Wing. The ca--Myles walked out in front of him, keeping him on the right path. He had to hand it to this newbie's cat, it knew it's way around much better than he did. "Mudblood and proud huh? Don't you know that's a derogatory name for muggleborns? Most kids hate the sound of it." He wonder if she was even sure that it meant dirty blood... but he wouldn't ask until he was sure that she understood that it was a horrid nickname.

Eva smiled and nodded. She was glad that he was alright. He was a nice guy. she sighed thinking of what had brought her to the tower in the first place to get away from her boy..... ex boyfriend.

"I know it's offensive, but I don't care, i it's a title I get because of my Parents I'll wear it with pride." She said knowing that she had no reason to hate the term. "I know it means dirty blood, but really, my blood is no different from yours or a pure bloods. As you can see." She attempted at a joke.

That drew a laugh from Aragorn's lips. He liked her humor, it was interesting that she could still make jokes when she was bleeding right out onto his shirt. He shook his head as he picked up the pace, "You're right. We all bleed the same colour, regardless of whether we're pure, half, or muggle... I just wish some people could see that."

Eva smiled glad she had made him laugh. She liked being able to do that as long as they weren't laughing at her. She always tried to see the bright side. She hoped that she would be ok though. It was a nagging worry at the back of her mind. What if something was wrong.

"Well they will. Really, everyone with that idea fell. They will learn eventually." She said sighing. Who cared about where you were born. It didn't matter. She sighed and wished that everyone was seen a equal. Maybe that's why she got so mad.

Aragorn rolled his eyes at her, a smile still on his face, "What the heck were you doing up there so high, anyways? You could have fallen over the railing." He recalled the most recent suicide he'd heard about, some Gryffindor's. That was horrid. They found the girl's body an hour later hanging from the post. It was amazing no one had seen it earlier, or heard her last scream. He was surprised he hadn't, of course he had probably been out and about Europe that day... whatever.

Eva sighed and was glad to see there was still a smile on his face. She wasn't trying to kill herself, no she loved life. She thought or a moment what if she was dying. She didn't want that to happen.

"I was hiding from my ex." She said simply. "I know I'm only a first year, but really I'm not that young." She said to him with a slight smile on her face. She had stopped coughing or the time being but there was a pain in her chest. She decided not to tell the boy that, knowing he would worry more.

"You seem young, firstie. Younger than me at least. Tell me... why were you hiding from him? Shouldn't you pretend that you don't give two shits about him to get him to come crawling back to you? It's always worked like that, for me anyways." He smiled slightly, unashamed of his trickery. If you liked someone, you really didn't want to give them up.
He came to the hallway that held the Hospital Wing, glancing down at the--Myles and shrugging at him. Cute cat, he had to admit. And he'd helped him escort his sickly owner, so that must mean he was a smart and caring cat.

Eva smiled and was glad they were almost there. Sure it was better than walking but she was still dizzy from being carried. "I was hiding because he's in my house and this just happened. I was crying and he doesn't need to see me shed a tear over him." She said knowing that she shouldn't be crying over a boy, but still he had hurt her.

Myles looked at Ea when the reached the wing and asked her if she was all right. She shrugged and hoped she would be. She smiled at the boy weakly "Thanks." She said to him, glad he had helped her. Myles walked over to the boy and rubbed his legs in thanks for helping her. Eva rolled her eyes. "Myles says thank you too, he just feels like being annoying." She said to him and the cat looked at her and said, 'well you did seem normal for a bit.' Eva shook her head fondly at her cat but stopped because her head was still spinning.
