Not The Boy Next Door

Alexander walks into the room tiredly. He flops down on the couch that is always there in the room when he enters. He sighs and pulls out his book and reads. he was about to tell someone so much and did not know how it would affect him. oh well it was worth a shot

Casey walked into the Room after changing out of her ball dress into blue flannel pajama pants and a white cami. She had let her her hair down and brushed it, so it fell to her shoulders as always. "You are not allowed to judge my outfit by the way," she said, sitting next to Alex on the couch. "Now, are you ready to talk?" She propped her elbow up on the back of the couch and curled her feet under her body, facing him completely to listen.

Alexander sighs "well i guess so..." he sighs what would he say? he didnt want to scare her away. she was his only friend other than jamie and he didnt want to let that go.

Casey could feel how nervous he was and hurried to reassure him. "Come on Alex. If that stupid deamon couldn't make me leave, I won't leave for whatever this is. I'll stay, I swear. Pinkie promise." She looked deep into his eyes. "I won't leave you little brother," she said seriously.

He nods quickle "well alright... i have been having dreams about me killing my aunt and cousin, with magic and i know its not the deamons fault because the dreams with the deamon i know its controlling me, with this its my own free will"

Casey nodded, looking at Alex kindly. "Not saying it's not wrong, but it's definitely completely understandable. They tormented you. All you want is to make them regret it. Still, killing is wrong and I know you wouldn't really do it. If you really do start to do it, just think of your parents. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want you to do it. Although more for saving your conscience than thinking they don't deserve it. Because frankly? They kind of do. Freaking sadists."

Alexander sighs "i know they do but i wasnt raised to believe that. i am the only child in my family that has evr been sorted into slytherin and there henceforth i am a disgrace to my family name..."

"You're not," Casey said firmly. "You are not a disgrace. It's the demon's fault you're in Slytherin and any family that considers their child a disgrace because of what House he's in should be ashamed of themselves. You are a lovely person who loves reading and swimming and hates heights and loves to laugh and acn conjure roses at will and is someone to be proud of. I'm proud of you, even if they're not," she said firmly. "And that's how it will stay."

Alexander hugs her "thanks casey... you really have helped me.." he starts to cry onto her shoulder. he couldnt stand the memories. they ripped him apart and killed him inside. it was too much for him to handle.

"Shh," said Casey soothingly. She shifted into a better position to hold him and stroked his hair genty. "Shh, Alex. It's ok little brother. I'm right here. I'll always be right here." Continuing to stroke his hair, she began to sing an old Muggle song her mother had sung to her when she was a baby. Her voice filled the room with a full, rich tone.

Alexander sits up his head hung. He regretted so much, but there were 2 things that he would always know, casey and jamie were his world. he would do whatever it takes to keep them safe. his sister and his girlfriend. he smiles slightly "you have a nice voice... have you ever thought of joining the choir?"

Casey blushed. "No, not really. I don't normally sing in front of other people. You're a first. Not even Liam has heard me sing. Apparently it's only a thing for siblings because I've sang for you and with Lyssa only." She ran a hand through her hair. "So, do you sing? Or do anything else likke that, any instruments or something?"

He laughs "well i can play the violin and piano well, like a boss" it is the first modern day slang term casey has ever heard him use. even he is laughing about it. "i know, that sounded foolish"

Casey grinned. "Nope. It made you sound like a teenager. See? You're learning! My little Alex is growing up!" She reache over and ruffled his hair. "I'd like to hear you play sometime. I can play the flute too. I'm pretty beast at it." She grinned ridiculously. "OK, well I was. I haven't played in a while, but still."

Alexander smiles, fixes his hair, and draws his wand. "accio violin" he laughs as her picks up the case. "you said yu wanted to hear me play correct?" he grns up at her "well how can i say no to my big sister?"

Casey grinned and settled herself attentively on the couch, looking up at him. "Yes I did, and there is no possible way to say no to this face." She made puppy dog eyes, but quickly started laughing. "So, what are you going to play?"

Alexander positions his instrument. "i dont know i was thinking Everything by michael buble... its a song i have been working on for a while now and i figured id give it a shot here. are you familiar with the piece?"

Casey smiled and hummed a bit of the piece. "Yep, I've heard it. It's a good song. I'm sure you'll do fantastically. Now," she sat forward eagerly. "Begin!" She smiled.

He starts to play. He finishes the song almost flawlessly. whats more he was smiling the entire time. it is obvious that this is one of his passions. he smiles at casey. "so what did you think? was it any good?"

Casey sat, enraptured for the entire song, then started applauding at the end. "That was amazing!" she exclaimed. "I've never heard someone play that well. You obviously love it, and that definitely helps. Who taught you to play?"

Alexander sighs "i taught myself by listening in on tom's lessons. my aunt didnt want to pay extra for me, but uncle jonothan gave me his old violin and told me to stand outside the door and learn to play by ear. this was 2 weeks before he died."

Casey's smile faded a little at yet more bad treatment of her brother, but kept it as well as she could. "Well it's more than I could do. I could never learn just by ear. That takes serious talent right there. It's really sweet that your uncle gave you his violin."

Alexander smiles reembering. "its the same one i play now. it is in mint-condition. if anything ever happened to it, i would completely lose my savior. he is the only reason i lived to be here with you today. he saved me when tom pushed me off the balcony and he came and found me and brought me home with him after the fire."

Casey smiled gently. "Well I wish I could thank him for that. I'd miss you if you weren't here. I'm glad you have something to remember him by. I wish I could have met him." She grew sad. "It's not fair that everything good in your life was taken."

Alexander puts a hand on her shoulder. "thats not true at all though casey, i have you and jamie and i still have my owl and my ring. i have so many of the things that made me happy and theres always my future. death is in my past. dont be sad, be hopeful. live in the now, not the then."
