Not The Boy Next Door

Casey reached over and hugged Alex. "Isn't it usually me giving all the sage advice?" she teased. "However did we switch roles? I'm glad you're learning to be happy again though. Look ahead, have hope, and all that. It makes life worth living."

Alexander smiles "yep i am happy. i have my two best friends and my girlfriend by my side. i couldnt be happier" he grins and picks up the violin "i shall be taking requests now" he plays a couple notes

Casey thought a minute. "Know any Taylor Swift? I can sing her songs. Actually basically anything country, and I'll know at least the chorus. Then we can do a duet!" She smiled. "We'll be the hit of the nation, traveling across the land on tour. The fans will scream our names and we'll be rich and famous!"

Alexander laughs slightly. "i like that fact you have hopes, but sadly i dont know any of her music. I do know some My Chemical Romance but no country music." he sighs. "sorry"

Casey shrugged. "Oh well, not a lot of people like country anyway. Do you know Teenagers by My Chemical Romance?" Her eyes had a mischievous glint in them. "That song is hilarious! And yet, somehow, decently close to the truth."

Alexander nods "of course. i could play that one in my sleep." he plays the song marking time with his foot and humming along slightly with a smile on his face as he played. he really liked that song.

Casey grinned. She nodded her head to the beat, waiting for her cue, which came very quickly. "They're gonna clean up your looks, with all the lies in the books..." She preceded to sing the entire song whilst dancing around the room crazily. There was lots of enthusiastic hair flipping involved. She honestly didn't know how Alex could keep playing and not just sit down and laugh at her.

He finishes the song and falls into a fit of hystarical laughter. "i wanted to laugh the entire time but i have to keep concentraited...or i mess up." he is laughing so hard tears are rolling down his face.

Casey grinned, flopping down on the couch. "I applaud your efforts and their success," she said, clapping lightly. "That had to take a lot of self control." She grinned at where he was laughing so hard he was crying. "Aw, it's ok little bro, you don't have to cry over me. There there, it's ok." She smiled wickedly.

He wipes his face and lets out a gasp of air "i could hardly breathe" hes panting. He smiels "thanks casey.. i needed a laughs... ive had a lot on my mind lately ya know."

Casey looked at Alex curiously. "Like what? Besides the usual of course. You're welcome for laughter, by the way. Isn't it lovely?" She grinned.

He nods. "thats just it it is the usual only its getting worse. i feel like a zombie casey. all i see are flashes of memories and they all haunt me whenever i close my eyes so sleep is impossible..."

Casey walked over and hugged him. "I'm really sorry Alex. I wish I could take them away for you, but that's out of my league. You could go the the Healer for some dreamless sleep potion. Or I could go for you, if you want."

He nods. "id rather you go... its embarassing to me because i thought the ghosts of my past were gone now... i was finally free but they all rushed back when i saw her, hanging from that rope in the astronomy tower... something broke inside me."

Casey looked at Alex sharply. "I thought you said it was the usual things?" she asked. "I would have spared you that if I could. You've already had enough death in your life. You definitely don't deserve more. And I'll go for the potion before bed tonight."

(OOC: I'm not actually going to start a thread to get the potion and another to give it to you. I'm pretty sure it's ok if you just have it after this.)

He nods "thanks casey" he hugs her shaking as a memory comes back, his cousin shoving him off the balcony "please make it go away! please casey!its eating away at my soul." he sobs

Casey rubbed his back soothingly, letting him cry into her shoulder. "Shh Alex, you're here, you're alright. You're whole. I'm your big sister and I'm not gonna let anything hurt you, ok? I'm here to protect you. Nothing bad's gonna happen. You're ok, you're alright, shhh..." As she continued to soothe Alex, a few tears leaked out of her eyes. No one deserved this. No one.

he cries quietly. "its such hell...." he looks up "dont you cry too. you hvae nothing to cry over casey. i envy you. you have parents and a sister..."

Casey smiled a little at him. "I'm not crying for me silly, I'm crying for you. Because I know how lucky I am, and I know how lucky you're not. Besides, you're my brother now, remember? Which means they're your parents and sister too. You get a whole new family."

He sighs and sits down "i know but...its different. my parents were.... well.. mine.... my mother the ravenclaw and my father the hitrost" he smiles at the memory of them, he had his fathers eyes and hair but the shape and height of his mother

"I know they can never replace yours," Casey said, sitting down next to him. "But it's better than being alone. And who knows? Maybe someday, you and Jamie will start a family, or you and some other girl you haven't met yet. I know it's too early to reall be thinking about it now, but there's always tomorrow."

He smiles at the thought. he and jamie... "thanks casey but i do need that potion i think." he lies down on the couch. he smiles tiredly

"All right, I'll go get it now and you can just sleep here for right now." Casey stood and hurried out the door.

~about 15 minutes later~

Casey re-entered the room, holding a vial. "Here Alex, I got it for you. You can take some right now."

He sits up dripping with sweat. "thanks." he downs the potion and drops back onto the couch in a deep sleep. He feels dead it was scary at first then it became pleasant

Casey smiled gently at Alex's sleeping form. It's about time, she thought. Shelooked around, hoping there was a blanket and saw one in the corner. She walked over a picked it up, tucking it around Alex. She smoothed his hair back from his forehead in a motherly way, smiling at him, then crept out of the room.
