Mirror to another world?

Adam went down to the Magic Fountain to try and discover what made it so magical. Did it have special properties? Was it like the Fountain of Youth? That would be awesome if it made him shrink or grow! Not if it made him an old man or a baby though. That would be horrible! He couldn't pull off being an old man and he was too young for that! And being a baby again? That would be embarrassing! He'd have to have someone change him and he'd rather avoid all that.

Or maybe it was like in the book he'd read before? That the water in the fountain would transport you to a different world or reality? That would be fun! That would be a grand adventure! Or maybe it would just be a mirror? One that he could talk to someone else that was somewhere else or somewhen else?

Stopping by the fountain, Adam braced his hands on the cool stone of the fountain and leaned forward to gaze into the crystal water. "Hello?"
