It was early, too early Elizabeth decided as she trudged down to the paddock where her new horse was currently residing. It was 5am and her body knew it should technically still be asleep until the sun at least poked through the clouds. She was wearing a pair of blue skinny jeans, black cowboy boots and cowboy chaps.
She was also wearing a cowboy buckle belt and a black stetson on her head, this was her style when it came to stable work or working with horses. Her parents had agreed to send her a horse of her choice, thinking she'd be riding around like a princess with the other pureblood fantatics. That wasn't the case. The horse she had selected was a colt, he was green and unbroken. She knew she'd have troubles but she didn't mind, at least he would keep her busy.
Coming up to the paddocks, she lifted her wand to the area and pointed it to the sky. "Lumos Maxima!" the ball of light shot from her wand and hovered above her, casting the paddock in a glow. Her horse was no where to be seen, letting out a shrill whistle her eyes caught sight of a black shadow moving out of the trees.
"Dytaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanion!" she called, "Coooooooooooooome oooooooooooon!" her voice echoed, the large colt picked up his speed to a trot before bolting for the fence, in the mean time she grabbed his red halter and lead from the gate. He flew to a flying halt, half rearing and shaking his head before pawing the ground.
"Hey you..." she said, patting the eager horse in front of her. This is how he always greeted her, he was willing to please after his rough beginning and after a bit of routine, he was relaxing into the new area. She had been focusing on ground manners over the past few weeks, he had learned that once the halter goes on you aren't allowed to rear or be a tool. Opening the gate, she raised her hand and the colt backed away as if respecting her space. Putting her wand between her teeth, she walked up to him and rubbed her hands along his neck. He relaxed beneath her hands but still remained a little tense.
"Good boy.." she murmured through her wand, slipping on his halter and clipping the lead rope to it. She led him out of the gate, he tossed his head but waited until she was ready to go after locking the gate. Walking up to the stables, he danced beside her but didn't pull too much. With a gentle tug he walked beside her, her at his shoulder. Opening the barn door and flicking on the lights, she turned and pointed her wand to the floating ball of light above his paddock. "Nox..."
The light dimmed instantly and she led Dytanion into his stable, he snorted and tossed his head as he waited for his meal.
