Overall history:

Mel Cooper, who witnessed her parents death, ran away from Paris to NYC. Homeless for years. She then made money playing on the streets of the Manhattan. Then she ran away to LA.
Then In LA, she almost got her big break. Her chance to shine but, it didn't work out, she was rejected. She was in a deep depression. Almost on the brink of suicide though.
She got better though. At Least, she tried, she was so depressed, she tried everything to harm herself. Pills, Cutting, you name it, she tried. Then she tried starting new, which worked out didn't it? She hasn't cut in 6 months!
