The first Day of Summer
Just returned from the Hogwarts Express
J. J. fingered the small ring in her hand, frowning slightly as she looked at it.
He wasn't coming back.
She had to face that fact. What else could she think. It had been a year. A whole year since she had seen him last. He had left without a goodbye or any word to say that he...
That he actually cared.
There was that... friend of his, but he had hardly counted at all. He hadn't explained anything right.
She knew she had promised... well promised to stand by him while she wore the ring but... she had waited a year.
How long was she expected to wait when he seemed to not be thinking about her at all.
These statements had been plaguing her day after day, week after week, month after month. As the young girl got up from her bed, and wandered over the simple mirror on the wall she knew one thing.
She had to stop this now, she had to stop this before month after month turned into year after year. She was young - she couldn't continue to waste her life, her days wondering, and worrying about someone who had left.
J. J. wasn't going to let everything slip away just because....
Just because he did.
Closing her eyes she took the ring in her hand, reaching over she was about to throw it, never look at it again, but... but something stoped her.
She couldn't do that. Not completely.
She was done waiting for the boy... but she wasn't done caring for him. Slowly she went over to the little desk, and started looking for...
She pulled out a simple chain, from a long forgotten necklace. Taking the ring, she slid it onto the chain, and then fastened it around her neck.
Looking down at the ring, resting just below her shirt; she took a deep breath and nodded.
It was for the best. It was time to move on.
"Goodbye Dimitri."
