Danielle Lamoureux was good as dead.

Her OWL results had come in through the mail, and with a trembling hand Dani had taken them into her room, and read them quietly to herself. She had been waiting for her results for ages, with an excitement that had never existed in the girl before.

Only for them to come with disappointment.

She curled herself into a ball on her four poster bed, and tried her best not to cry. She had failed. Dani Lamoureux had failed.

Merlin hoped that Father didn't find out about this.

It had been early in the morning when Pierre had finally been able to return to his own Manor from Russia where he had spent the first few days of the summer holidays. And he arrived just on the right day. He knew that this was the day that OWL results were released to the students. And he was certainly was looking forward to seeing his daughter's marks. That was why he called her downstairs that afternoon after completing some of the work he had at home.

Oh no. Father was calling.

She couldn't tarry. She couldn't dilly. She couldn't jump out of the window and wreak havoc upon their idyllic family. The only option she had was to go down and talk to him.

Inhaling and exhaling, the Prideux lady exited the room and shut the door behind her. Her feet were trembling as she walked down the stairs. Her letter was clutched in her hand, her head hung in shame. There was no knowing on what Father would make of her failure.
