Brewing something new--4th years

Ivano knew that this exchange program would be very educational, but he also knew he had upset his long time girlfriend but he knew that she would forgive him because she always did. He had fought his father for a little bit, but then his father put is foot down and told him he was going to do it whether he liked it or not.

This whole campus was interesting to him, let alone the language was a little different for him, he had been working a little on his Russian but it was really rusty.

He had signed up to take potions because he knew that was the one class where he would feel close to Tabi, the woman he dearly missed.

Walking into the classroom he found and seat and sat down and waited for the class to begin.

Mystical made her way down to potions and walked in and noticed that same guy that had been in dark arts with her was there. She was a little nervous about talking to him so she just waved again and sat down.

Mystic hoped the teacher would hurry and start the class she was ready for a break, and school had just started.

Roman strode into the potions room, once again looking forward to the class time ahead of him. Next year was OWLS, so he really had to get down to work. His parents were already expecting him to start studying for it, as he was expected to get all O's, not that his parents did nearly that well.

He shrugged and sat down, organizing and taking out his materials for the class.

Ivano looked up when a girl walked and and he had to be nice to her when she smiled and waved at him, so he gave a curt wave back.

Next to enter was a boy and he was watching him while he got his materials set up. Ivano was generally not a very shy person but this was all new to him and he wondered if these people thought he was invading their space.

"I hope you all remember this classroom," Kas said appearing at the back of the room, lounging against the wall, forcing the students to turn to look at him, "Cause we're learning memory potion today."

The man laughted at his own joke, and pushed himself off the wall, to move to sit on one of the empty student desks near him.

"Now that I've made a horrible pun, feel free to pelt me with blunt instruments, and tell me anything you know about that lovely little concoction."

Ivano knew a little about this potion, well dating a potion masters daughter did have its advantages once in awhile. Ivano Raise his hand.

"Sir, a memory potion is a type of potion which presumably causes the drinker to have improved access to their memories. Jobberknoll feathers are known to be an ingredient, which supports this theory, considering the Jobberknoll's ability to "remember" sounds quite easily."

Ivano thought his response sounded like something right out of a book, but then it was.

Mystical was a little upset that this new kid got to the answer before she did, but he had a very good explanation so she really didn't have anything to add.

"Sir, so will this work on all your memories at one time, or just specific ones you are trying to get to. Like suppressed memories?"

Kasper grinned at the students participating. It was always more lively a day if he could get a reaction out of at least a few of them.

"Very good, very good, thank you Ivano for that very precise definition, even if it did sound a tad bit I swallowed the textbookish."

His grin lit up further at the next question.

"Very acute Mystic - yes, the potion is used for a bit of both. The potion does indeed strengthen all memories, however in doing that, memories that one did not know they had in the first place do become apparent. So often, the goal to taking such a potion is to look for these things - or to give an added benifit to a test, which I am obligated to remind you is strictly not allowed.*"

"Now, does anyone else wish to ask anything?"

Kendera opened the door to the classroom, pausing halfway into the room to gaze manically up and down the corridor beyond. That voice - voices - was silent at the moment, but it was only a matter of time before she heard it again. She had never seen anyone, though. There was never anyone there.

Was she going crazy? Hearing voices in one's head meant one was crazy, doesn't it? She didn't want to be crazy! But she was obviously hearing voices - didn't that mean she was already crazy??

Drawing in a shuddering breath, Kendera proceeded the rest of the way into the classroom, making sure the door was securely shut before turning away from it.

"I apologize for my tardiness," she murmured to the professor, gaze flitting over the others in the room. What class was this, again?

... Potions.

Kendera flinched at the unexpected response. Moving to a seat, she sat abruptly, staring down at the desktop.

Roman's gaze flicked around the room towards each person as they began to talk, still getting back into the swing of classes, his eyes lingered for a moment on Kendera as she walked in, but he was able to divert his attention quickly enough to ignore her.

The boy's gaze finally rested on the professor, and he ventured to speak, "What about memories modified through mental techniques? Would it have an effect on those?"

Mystic was glad that she didn't ask a stupid question and she understood the answer very well. She was looking around the room to see if anyone ask a question then she heard Roman ask a interesting question and waited for an answer.

Kasper's gaze lingered slightly on the late student. She had always been reserved to an extent, but there seemed something.... slightly off about her on this day.

"Don't worry about it Kendera," he said easily, "We all have our moments of disorganization don't we - my life's been one big disorganized mess."

He let out a laugh and turned his attention to the next question.

"Ah, another insightful inquirary. It would of course depend on the extent and the ability of both the mental methods, and the potion brewed. A well brewed potion against weak defences, would in fact turn up the original memory, the other way around, the memory would remain as it is. However if both are about equal strength, the modified memory usually - in most cases - seems to pervail."

"Does that answer the question?" He smiled at the room.

Ivano didn't have any questions he just wanted to get started and get the class over with.

Ivano did find the potion to be an interesting idea. He had lots of memories in is head that he didn't want to know anything about.

Kasper nodded around the silent room. Taking the lack of feed back as a yes, he smiled and spun the great board at the front of the room around to reveal today's brewing instructions.

"As always, you know where the supplies are, and I am here to field any questions... and avoid any explosions. Trust me, I've tried it with every potion imaginable. I know the warning signs."

Giving the class an impish grin he waved his hands about.

"So you shall begin!"

Mystical went to the cupboard and got all the ingredients that she was going to need to make the potion.

Setting up her cauldron she starting it heating it up she started to chop up the ingredients placing them in the cauldron at the right times along with the proper amount of stirs. Hoping the bright red coloring it was turning was meaning that it was correct.

Ivano was glad when the professor said they could begin the memory potion. He had made this before if he was thinking right. There was privileges to dating a potion master's daughter.

Walking over to the ingredients he picked through them until he found the parts he wanted to use. Wormwood, clear paste, and many other things that was needed. Walking back over to his table he got to chopping the ingredients that were needed for this potion.

Ivano leaned over and turned on the flame under the cauldron, and added the base and heated it up then began to add the different ingredients. It came to a time it had to sit for 5 minutes he finished chopping and slicing the last items and added them at the right time.

It was in the last stages and started to turn a light shade of red almost pinkish color.

Kasper wandered the room as the students brewed the potion. Helping where he needed to.

"Now, we are out of time, so if you'll all just leave your cauldrons, I suppose I'll acutally do my job and check your potions, and you may leave!"

He clapped his hand and grinned.
