Familiar

Cai wandered the shop, peering into the various crates and cages as the creatures within. He had been considering purchasing an animal companion for some time, though he had little idea just what sort of creature he would want. An owl would be practical, though, he'd never had trouble using his parents' owls or a standard post bird. A snake would be interesting, but serve little purpose to the man.

The man sighed. He didn't want a mere pet. Other wizards and witches had animal familiars. True, not everyone was so lucky as to find a familiar, but enough that Caius hoped for one of his own, someday.

But how did one go about finding their familiar? That was the question.
