    Owls to Wine Glasses

This spell turns owls into wine glasses. To cast this spell the students must place their owls on their desk and aim their wand at them while. They then must move their wand up quickly then down quickly and finish with a sharp flick while saying the incantation "Noctuam Vinum".

To reverse this spell, the students must hold their wand firmly then swish it in an anticlockwise direction while visulizing the wine glass turning back into an owl

    Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2) Empty Re: Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2)

The young yet messed-up Slytherin girl entered the room she had not seen in about a year or two. The grounds of the castle were still stuck below her shoes, feeling them brush against her soles. She sighed, gave a short but monotonous greeting to the professor with a slight bow, she felt like a first year all this long and she was still that goody student who never was late, then positioned herself near the front table where she can see and hear clearly what the lesson was all about. Placing her bag under the desk and settling the little cheap owl on top of the wood, she took out her wand once the instructions were given and tried muttering the spell a few times before trying.

She unlocked the small cage where the owl, a bitter replacement of her beloved cat was, and placed it where she can aim directly at it, feeling no pity emotions at all. She sighed, focused on the bug-eyed creature turning into a wine glass, and flicked her wand as she was told. The girl gazed at the transfiguring owl slowly until it became what it was supposed to be.

Satisfied with her work, she waited for a bit of time to return the animal into its original form again.

    Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2) Empty Re: Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2)

Lectures bored the hell out of the Ravenclaw, which was why she was the happiest woman in the world once their practical task was set.

Tshering rested the owl on her wrist, furrowing her eyebrows. She hadn't even done anything to the damned animal yet and here it was, flapping its wings about as if she had molested it. As soon as she found a desk, she set her owl on it, smirking as it mouthed her silently. The brunette laughed, before setting her wand anti-clockwise and mouthing the charm at her owl.

Instead of turning it into a glass like she had wanted, the incantation seemed as if it only made the owl fly away from her, chirping away. It curled its talons on the ceiling, hooting at her mockingly.

Reacting for the wings of the owl that had just passed her head, the Slytherin scowled, dropping her wand when she was about to reverse the spell. Looking behind her, she saw no one but her Ravenclaw best friend. She frowned, picked up her wand and fixed her ruined hair. She rolled her eyes then gave a look above her, grunted, and spoke to Tshering,

"What now?" she shrugged, went on with the wine glass and tried several attempts in conjuring the reversed spell, her mind having a blocked moment because of the endless hooting of the other owl.

"It better stop." Iris muttered under her breath.

Ariana walked into the classroom ducking as an owl flew at her. "Geez. someone call animal control yet?" She sat in the back the class placing her cage in the desk, the owl inside asleep and uncaring of the minor chaos she caused rushing toward the class. She looked around the room eyeing the the other students progress. She pulled her wand out setting it on her desk, she quietly released the latch on the cage and spoke gently to her feathered pal as she convinced him to wake and perch on her arm. "That's it buddy."

    Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2) Empty Re: Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2)

Post by Corvus Corax Wed Sep 12, 2012 12:50 am

Corvus stayed in the back of the class during the lecture and only moved to get his owl. It was a pretty and black with a small patch for white feathers on its chest. He thought that out of all the owls this one would make the most elegant glass even though Corvus would only let it remain so for a short period of time.

"Don't worry little one." Corvus said softly as he walked back to his desk in the back of the class. "I will only make you endure this for a moment, and I have a treat for you afterwards."

Corvus set the calmed owl on his desk and took out his wand. Transfiguration was normally one of his worst subjects. He hated turning animals into inanimate objects and viewed the course as pretty much pointless, but today he was willing to try. His mind was back at his grandmother's house and focused on how she laughed at him. She had insulted his ability, saying that his wild blood could never understand the finesse needed for Transfiguration.

"I'll show you, you old crow." Crovus whispered to himself as he moved his wand up and down while ending the motion in an elegant and precise flick. "Noctuam Vinum!" He nearly shouted.

Yet what happened next was something even Corvus did not expect. Instead of the spell failing or causing the animal to remain in some half transfigured state that couldn't be anything but painful, the owl shone slightly with a liquid light. It shrunk down and became something Corvus didn't know he was able to produce; a wineglass

He smiled to himself as he waited for the professor to look over his work.Maybe this is my year. he thought happily to himself. Yet, then he noticed that an owl had flown away from one of the girls. A fellow Ravenclaw, what was her name? Annie....Annette, Corvus wasn't exactly sure. Still he felt a tug of loyalty that made him look up to the owl on the ceiling.

With a sharp whistle he caught the owl's attention and extended his wrist. He whistled again and reached into his pocket. Pulling out an owl treat, Corvus clicked his tongue. It was weird, but instead of animals staying away from Corvus as he was a werewolf; they usually listened to him. This time was no different, and the owl glided slowly onto his wrist and began to nibble on the treat Corvus had pulled out.

He smiled and walked over to his fellow Ravenclaw; all the while petting the owl softly in an attempt to calm it. He smiled as he looked at... Anna! That was her name.

"Here, she was just nervous." He said handing over the owl.

    Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2) Empty Re: Transfiguration - 5th Years (Lesson 2)

Frances tilted her head and squinted her eyes towards the back of the room. She had heard the commotion, causing her to be disturbed from reversing the spell, something she was still doing amidst the wrecking drumming inside her head. It was just the surroundings that had made her feel somewhat irritated, and the emotions, the rising pressure of her not getting along with the glass and the spell that she was such in a bad mood since breakfast at the Great Hall. Everyone, everything, felt like they're new and had risen from nothing. True, she turned into bitterness and cold, much worse than what she was of course. But being with these sort of people, her year, and not getting to know them in the past year seemed stupid. She only hoped more of her friends and familiar faces would show up. Except these unknown beings around her.

She heaved a sigh of relief for the silence of the petty and noisy owl, then remarked, "Impressive. Finally. Some peace." she faced her table again to look at the lifeless wine glass. Pointing her wand and visualizing the object to transfigure into its original form again while having a firm grip, the Slytherin did what she had been hoping to achieve with determination and moved her wand with a swift counterclockwise direction.

She smirked to herself, mockingly gazed down at the owl, and waited patiently. Not actually in her vocabulary.

Post by Iris Grayson Wed Sep 12, 2012 4:16 pm

Iris hated attending classes that mostly focussed on long, annoying lectures and she swore to herself that if she had to endure another talk, she would just walk out of the class. Not to mention, she was in one of her mood swings, which made her more irritable.

Opening the door, the Gryffindor entered quickly and took a seat on the back. She let her owl, Remy, out of the cage and placed him on the table. For some unfathomable reason, Remy had been the friendly and obedient owl to her, though to strangers, he didn't hesitate to attack.

She aimed her wand at him, with a sharp flick, moved it up and down in a swift motion and muttered the incantation, 'Noctuam Vinum,' and watched as it turned into a wineglass. Feeling satisfied with herself, she dropped her wand on table and looked around at the others.

Tshering nodded, and briefly thanked the other Ravenclaw for giving her owl back. "What's your name?" she questioned, "I never caught it. Not properly."

Setting the owl down on the desk, she began to work on the Transfiguration that was expected of her. She sighed, the owl glaring at her defensively with his eyes. Wait... was it a he or a her? Who cared? It was just a stupid, defunct, damaged little...

    "Noctuam Vinum!"

    ... wineglass.

Hades walked into the classroom. He looked around and was grateful for another boy in this classroom. He saw Ariana and Iris together in the same class. Wow, this is going to be some class, he thought. He took a seat and tried not to go noticed. It was too early in the morning and he was tired. He grabbed his wand and pointed it at the owl.

"Noctuam Vinum" Hades watched as the black owl turned into a wine glass. He picked up the glass and admired it. He only hoped that this isn't what the school uses for the plates and such.

Thomas walked into class and saw that the class was already started. He sighed and took a seat next to Hades. He looked in a direction and saw Iris. He knew it was probably hard for Hades so he just looked up front and got out his wand when he knew what to do. He looked at the owl in front of him.

"Noctuam Vinum" Thomas said as he watched in some sort of amazment that the brown owl turned right into a wine glass.

Adele, finding herself extremely late to class once more, sighed once she got work to the Potion. After ten minutes of interrogating the Owl and finally sure that it was not part of the Pineapple Army, the Gryffindor st down on her seat and stared at the Owl.

"Noctuam vinum," she muttered, slowly picking up her wand as she went on, "noctuam vinum to turn you into a wineglass..."

She pointed her wand at the Owl, but the only result she could obtain was a half-owl, half-glass hybrid, and the brunette burst into a puddle of tears.

Damian stayed clear of the fleeing owl and those working to coax it back from its high perch. He did grimace as the Ravenclaw boy's whistle pierced his sensitive ears.

"Gah..." the boy muttered quietly under his breath, rubbing at his ears as he 'turned off' his enhanced hearing. That was a poor way to describe it, of course. After all, senses could not be turned off, but it was the closest way to describe the process.

Damian turned his attention back to his owl, the handsome Tawny that Theo had gotten for him back when he was just about first year. The boy gently stroked the bird's feathers. "Don't look at me that way, Max," he sighed. "It wasn't my idea. You'll be fine, boy."

Maximus did not look quite so convinced, ruffling his feathers to communicate just how fond he was of the idea. The boy gave a small smile. Practicing the wand movements two or three times to be certain of them, only then did he direct his wand at his beloved owl.

    "Noctuam Vinum," he incanted.

It wasn't a perfect wineglass, but it was easily distinguished as one. Reversing the spell was done with ease, likely because Damian knew his owl so well. Maximus gave him a disgruntled hoot. Damian smiled apologetically, and then he practiced again until he got the spell perfect.
