Corvus stayed in the back of the class during the lecture and only moved to get his owl. It was a pretty and black with a small patch for white feathers on its chest. He thought that out of all the owls this one would make the most elegant glass even though Corvus would only let it remain so for a short period of time.
"Don't worry little one." Corvus said softly as he walked back to his desk in the back of the class. "I will only make you endure this for a moment, and I have a treat for you afterwards."
Corvus set the calmed owl on his desk and took out his wand. Transfiguration was normally one of his worst subjects. He hated turning animals into inanimate objects and viewed the course as pretty much pointless, but today he was willing to try. His mind was back at his grandmother's house and focused on how she laughed at him. She had insulted his ability, saying that his wild blood could never understand the finesse needed for Transfiguration.
"I'll show you, you old crow." Crovus whispered to himself as he moved his wand up and down while ending the motion in an elegant and precise flick. "Noctuam Vinum!" He nearly shouted.
Yet what happened next was something even Corvus did not expect. Instead of the spell failing or causing the animal to remain in some half transfigured state that couldn't be anything but painful, the owl shone slightly with a liquid light. It shrunk down and became something Corvus didn't know he was able to produce;
a wineglassHe smiled to himself as he waited for the professor to look over his work.
Maybe this is my year. he thought happily to himself. Yet, then he noticed that an owl had flown away from one of the girls. A fellow Ravenclaw, what was her name? Annie....Annette, Corvus wasn't exactly sure. Still he felt a tug of loyalty that made him look up to the owl on the ceiling.
With a sharp whistle he caught the owl's attention and extended his wrist. He whistled again and reached into his pocket. Pulling out an owl treat, Corvus clicked his tongue. It was weird, but instead of animals staying away from Corvus as he was a werewolf; they usually listened to him. This time was no different, and the owl glided slowly onto his wrist and began to nibble on the treat Corvus had pulled out.
He smiled and walked over to his fellow Ravenclaw; all the while petting the owl softly in an attempt to calm it. He smiled as he looked at... Anna! That was her name.
"Here, she was just nervous." He said handing over the owl.
