Transfiguration Lesson One Third Years

Casey glanced around the empty room dejectedly. First again and again and there's no one to talk to! She pulled out her pen again and began shakily drawing on her right arm with her left hand. Sooooo bored...

Stomping into Transfig, Liam sighed audibly when he spotted a certain brunette seated in the middle of the empty class room.

"Casey Donohoe, I can tell you I'm not surprised to see you yet again, as the first one into class." He laughed shaking his head and walked over to take the empty seat next to her.

"You should just hang back till everyone else decides to show, but then again your not like everyone else, so it's acceptable." he smiled plentifully and proceeded to take her ball pen from her and draw a moth on her pinky finger.

Casey shook her head and smiled. "You're not one to talk. I do believe you are stalking me! Anyway, totally not my fault, I just walk fast."

She surrendered her arm to be drawn on, then inspected the moth he had drawn. "Nice," she said approvingly. "As you can see," she held out her other arm and her legs, "I've run out of space. I have been first to ALL my classes today, and have therefore been extremely bored."

She inspected a rose on her leg critically, then pulled out a red pen and added some highlights to it. "Much better," she said happily.

Alex walked into the classroom to see the same people from Potions. "Hi" Alex said to them. Alex saw that Jamie wasn't in this class and knew she probably took Dueling instead of Transfiguration. Jamie always hated this classroom. Alex sighed and took a seat somewhere in the class and put her feet up on her desk and leaned back again. Alex was the girl that never really cared, Jamie was too that's what made them great friends.

Glaring playfully, Liam stated his disapproval "Oye! Not my fault we happen to take the same classes and your worried about being late" he shook his head laughing silently.

Liam's eyes widened at the ink filled distress of Casey's ligaments. "By god you were bored! But if you think this is nice, you'll love this!" Pulling out his wand he gently placed the tip upon her pinky and with a quick tap his whispered, "Ariverto!" and grinned in appreciation when the small black moth turned into a moving ink ring that fluttered about her finger.

"There now you shall not be bored, for the next 10 minuted" he chuckled amusingly at her astonished face.

Turning to the girl who he had seen in his last class walk in Liam nodded politely and smiled, "good morning" he replied.

Casey just laughed at Liam's protests. "Stalker!" she sang in a sing-song voice.

"Woah," she muttered as Liam made the drawing on her finger move. "That is so beyond cool." SHe brought it up right in front of her face to study it.

"Shut up," she said, shoving Liam's arm without taking her eyes off the moth. "I am an easily amused child."

Chuckling in agreement he shoved her back gently, "Obviously women! Never have I witnessed such simple mindedness! But I can let it slide for you" he grinned when she glared at him.

"Don't spite me, oh mighty one!!" He fake begged shielding himself with both his arms.

Casey grinned at Liam's antics, but tried to keep a straight face, whilst adopting a completely fake British accent. "Ah, but how can I ignore so grevious an insult to my mental capacities?! One would think a mere commoner would show more respect for his betters! Off with his head!" She then put Liam in a gentle headlock and ruffled his hair playfully. Donning her normal American accent and smiling, she added "Well, for you I'll just demand an apology."

Lynx walked into the classroom and found that there was only three students he was quite surprized he then placed his bags and a few textbooks on the desk and then glanced down at his wrist watch and saw it was time to start the lesson

"Ok class can I have your attention please, so firstly im Professor Miller I work for the Ministry but the Ministry have decided to appoint me to this position due to the seriously falling standards of this class" Lynx then looked at each of the students "Any questions? no excellent" Lynx said quickly

Lynx then went behind his desk and pulled out a cage containing several mice and placed it on his desk "Today we will be learning how to transfigure mice into jewellery boxes. Now to cast this spell hold your wand firmly and say Mures Jocalia while moving your wand in a fluid swish"

Lynx then nodded at his class "Ok so I'll get you to just practice the wand movement first, because if you don't get that correct Merlin knows what it'll turn into"

Casey smiled at the Professor. Finally, someone with a sense of humor!

Concentrating hard, she did the movement with the rest of the class. Hmm, too hard and fast, she thought. She quickly changed it into the same fluid motion as the Professor, correcting it against his with each movement. She grinned at her latest attempt, confident that she had the movement down.

Liam pulled his wand out and focused on the hand movements. Moving his wand in the right directions and closing his eyes, he imagined the mice turning into the aforementioned box.

Without his consent Liam swished his wand and spoke the words "Mures Jocalia!" in a whisper and when he heard a quiet squeak across the room, his eyes snapped open to see a box among a group of frightened mice in the cage upon the professors desk. Panicking Liam quickly swished his wand in a backwards motion he saw the mouse pop back into its original shape before the professor turned back around to face them.

Liam sighed deeply and slumped in his chair. 'that was a close one...' he thought warily and continued making wand gestures but this time purposely doing them incorrectly.

Casey was surprised to hear Liam whisper the incantation and even more surprised when one of the mice instantly turned into a jewellery box, and then back as he frantically swished his wand.

She scooted over next to his ear and whispered "Woah, when did you get so beast at Transfig?"

Looking at Casey out the corner of his eye, he sighed and whispered back. "My father..." was all he said thinking of when his father was alive and used to laugh at Liam uncontrollable compulsions when it came to transforming objects or simply conjuring a spell. Almost every time he managed to turn the object or do the spell but only because he let himself get loose enough to allow his wand to procure the spell, it was very troublesome in Liam's opinion.

Casey frowened at Liam's answer cut short and let her eyes unfocus, catching on the colors that felt like Liam. There was nostalgia, sadness, and a bit of fear, or uneasiness.

"Hey, sorry," she whispered. Smiling faintly, she sang under her breath, "Don't worry, be happy," while poking him in the side. She'd try normal means before messing with his emotions with her talent.

Smiling faintly he slowly came back from memory lane, Liam shook his head sighing before looking Casey in the eyes. "Thanks Cass, I'll be okay" he smiled widely just so she would believe him than grabbed her hand under the table and squeezed it gently before leaning back in his seat. He left his hand loose enough for her to pull her hand back if she wanted to, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.

Casey's eyes widened a bit when Liam didn't let go of her hand, but a slow smile unfurled on her face. Staring straight ahead as though paying attention to the Professor, she rubbed slow circles on the back of his hand with her thumb. Things were good. Oh yes, they were very good. And she definitely wasn't letting go any time soon.

Smiling to himself Liam followed her lead and pretended to pay attention to the class, but his mind was anywhere but there at that moment, he felt light and for some reason it wasn't a bad feeling he just reeled in the feeling and let himself bask in it, all the while griping Casey's hand gently and he softly hummed fix you by cold play.

After a while Lynx decided that they had practiced the movements enough, he then picked up two mice and placed them on the two students desks he then walked back to the front and turned to face them

"Ok so I think you have practiced the movements enough so its time to actually perform then transfiguration, and remember the better the cast the better looking jwellery box you end up with" Lynx said

Casey scrunched her eyes up to concentrate. "Mures Jocalia," she said clearly, while moving her wand in a fluid swish and concentrating on the jewellery box she wanted. At first, nothing happened so she repeated the spell angrily, but still moving her wand in a fluid swish. Instantly, the squeaking mouse changed into a beautifully carved and polished jewellery box in cherry wood. Casey sat back and grinned, pleased with her work.

Lynx watched as Casey transfigured the mouse, the jewllery box was quite good Lynx was impressed he then walked over and picked up the box and began to examine it he then placed it back down

" Excellent work Miss Donohoe, quite an impressive cast" Lynx then looked over to the Slytherin boy to see his cast

Liam smiled fondly at Casey and set about his own mouse, smiling at the box he had in mind, he swished his wand quickly and pointedly, "Mures Jocalia" he said firmly. When the mouse squeaked he grinned at his handy work, Before him was a silver box with intricate designs of leaves, accented with red and green jewels, that spelled 'Casey' Liam grinned and looked over to wink at Casey.

Casey blushed at her name in jewels on the box, but smiled at Liam nonetheless. "it's beaustiful," she breathed, examining it. The pattern was so complex and beautiful, it nearly took her breath away. Behind the Professor's back, she mouthed I love it! holding up her hands in a heart shape.

Liam grinned so wide his laugh lines probably looked more prominent, people called it an eye crinkling smile? He was very glad Casey loved his 'sort of' gift. Being the suave man he was, he made sure the professor wasn't watching before pulling one of his many Veela tricks, Rubbing his fingers like a muggle magician he procured a scarlet roses with a snap of his fingers and handed it to Casey.

Casey laughed when Liam handed her roses comjured out of nowhere, stifling it quickly, glancing at the professor. "Well aren't you just the charmer?" she muttered to Liam. "They're beautiful, but now I feel bad that I don't have anything to give you. Oh, wait!" She quickly summoned something out of her dorm. A gold oval locket flew into her hands and she tossed it to Liam. "We can put a picture in it later. I never had anyone to give it to before. You don't have to wear it if it's not 'manly' enough," she grinned, "but you can put it in your pocket."

Liam looked at the locket and looked back at Casey, taking the locket from her fingers and smiled before placing the locket around his neck and tucking it under his first shirt and patting the spot. "Well I guess I have to give you something better than petty flowers?" smiling he took one of the roses and dispersed the rest with a snap of his fingers, putting the bud of the flower between his hands he squeezed it and mutter "rose trius" and smiled gently when he felt the rose shrink and turn cold under his hand, the stem turning into a silver chain. Holding his hand out to Casey was a silver rose locket with a red ruby in the center. "Now were even beautiful" he grinned softly.
