So This Is The World We Live In (Anna Tshering)

Scarlett climbed and climbed the many stairs leading up the Astronomy Tower. Her heels click-clacked on each step as she walked, the sound echoing throughout the place. When she reached the top, she practically ran forward to the railing and looked out ahead of her.

She ran her fingers through her reddish-brown locks, a few times before tying it at the base of her neck. There was a light breeze high up where she was, and she hated it when her hair got messed up because of it.

"Wow." was all she said when she looked up, down and all around at the school and it's grounds. It was an extraordinary sight, at least to her.

It wasn't her first time being up in the Astronomy tower, but she had only been up here, maybe two or three times since her first year, and even then, the scene still shocked her.

Placing her elbows on the rail and then leaning her chin against her hand as she looked out, she thought. 'So, this is the world I live in. So grand and beautiful. So...full of wonder and mystery.'

She found herself so lost in her thoughts and her own world, she barely noticed the other person standing behind her, watching as she admired the world below her.

Tshering hadn't been up to the Tower out of lesson time ever since she was in her third year. How childish she must have seemed back then, when her current self looked at her self back then. She still lived with her parents, still believed in true love, she still believed that there was going to be a bright future in front of her if she tried hard enough.

It was difficult to truly remember how little of the world she had understood at the age of thirteen. She didn't know how painful heartbreak was, the euphoric pleasure of being in a fling, just how dangerous sneaking around snogging someone you weren't supposed to snog was. It was hard to remember a day where she did not hide a pack of cigarettes under her robes.

As the Astronomy Tower welcomed her with its cold arm, goosebumps stood up on the Ravenclaw's arms. She had never felt this afraid, never so lost, the hostility of Florence's sobs it reminded her of. Everything hurt. Everything wanted to hurt.

There was a younger Ravenclaw, and taking on a totalitarian tone, Tshering cleared her throat. "No punishments, but if you don't mind my prying, what are you doing here?"

Scarlett straightened herself out before turning around so she could face the speaker. She turned to see a fellow Ravenclaw standing there, a Prefect no less.

She wasn't worried about that though, she wasn't doing anything wrong, or at least, she didn't think she was and the older girl had cleary said 'No punishments', so Scarlett was able to relax a little.

Smiling, something Scarlett did to anyone who talked to her, she shrugged and said, "I don't know. I needed a change of scenery, I guess."

She looked at the girl, she was pretty sure her name was Anna Tshering, almost everyone knew a Prefect's name. "You're, Anna Tshering, am I right?" she asked politely, placing her hands behind her back.

Scarlett had a tendency to guess who people were, and then end up getting it wrong, so she always asked before assuming.
