Divination: Year One, Lesson Two

Sophia had placed a teapot and three tea cups had the round table she'd set near the middle and front of the classroom. The desks and all but three of the chairs had been neatly stacked in the back corner of the room.

Magus stood on the woman's desk as she murmured quietly to him. Giving him bits of dried fruit, she waited patiently for her class to arrive, Occlumency shields firmly in place.




(OOC: Please post your arrival by Tuesday. Starting Wednesday, you will be late and I shall be taking points for tardiness without a valid excuse, this time.)

Flora walked into the class and inhaled the beautiful and relaxing scent of the incense.
'Hello Professor' she greeted with a small smile. She's occluding and her block is also a cool one. She hastily removed her presence. 'I'm sorry professor, I didn't mean to.'

Sophia smiled disarmingly at the girl. "Not at all, Miss Evans," she spoke soothingly. "My shields aren't to keep you out, in particular, but the world at large." The woman grinned wryly.

"Do have a seat, lass," Sophia encouraged. "It would seem you are singularly gifted, though, cannae say I envy you the Legilimency. Being a sensitive is headache enough. Not a worry, lassie - there are several professors here who can help you get a handle on your gift."

She smiled once more. "No harm done. I'm not one to so easily take offense."

Flora smiled back, 'Thank you, Professor.' she took a seat. 'I've got used to it. Your block is very beautiful, by the way.'

"Well, as it seems your classmates are either late or not coming, I suppose we ought to begin," Sophia said. "Now, what can you tell me about tasseomancy, Miss Evans?"

"Well, not much really. Just that it's the study to predict the future from the patern of sedimentation of a drink such as tea, coffee or wine." Flora said what she could remember.

"Correct, Miss Evan," Sophia told the girl. "Five points.

"Today, I'll have you try your hand at reading tea leaves. Originally, I was going to have you and your classmates trade cups, but it looks like you'll have to read your own, I'm afraid."

"Ok, professor. It's not a problem." Flora replied and waited expectantly for her to instruct farther.

"Alright," Sophia smiled. She poured a cup of tea and pushed it towards Flora, indicating that she should drink it.

"Now," she said, once the girl had done so, "give your cup a good shake, and then drain the rest of the liquid out onto your saucer. Good. Alright, see what shapes you can make out and use your textbook to figure out what they might mean."

Flora drank her tea and opened the book beside the cup, careful not to spill the drink.
Ok, so what have we got?
Ummm, looks like a ship near the edge... What does it mean? Worthwhile journey. Ok...
A Snake, an enemy or wisdom?
A book near the bottom, closed... need to investigate something?
Bush, friends and opportunities.
This one looks like a cloud near the bottom, trouble.
She wrote down her findings and Presented it to Professor Wyse.

Sophia looked over Flora's notes and nodded in approval. "Good job, Miss Evans," she said, peering into the cup herself. She didn't see anything the the girl had missed.

"Now, were there any questions you had before we finish for the day?"
