Lesson Three - 2nd Years

Miles walked into the Greenhouse and placed his bag behind his desk, he then looked over at the trolleys at the far end of the room and saw a bunch of potted Blaze Trees burning away their flames whippinf against each other, Miles then flicked his wand and they leviatated themselves over to the benches where the students would be working

Miles then grabbed a piece of chalk and wrote "Blaze Trees" on the board, he then sat down behind his desk and waited for his second years to arrive

Juniper sat behind one of the benches, making sure to keep her things away from the burning tree. She stared at it for awhile in awe, being careful not to get too close. In general, Juniper liked plants. They communicated all their needs skillfully, without ever saying too much. If a plant was thirsty, it didn't whine and complain all the time about needing water. It just started dying.

I'm gonna have to work on my analogies, Juniper thought.

Miles nodded at his first student who walked into the Greenhouse, after a few minutes Miles looked at his watch noticing that the lesson was due to start, he decided even though he only had one student he would start the lesson

" Ok firstly let me just say thank you for being on time, so i think its time to start the lesson. Today we will be learning about how to re - pot blaze tree's. Now most people try to douse the fire with a water charm, now this is very harmful for the plant and makes trying to restore the plant very difficult"

Miles then pulled out his wand in prepartion to show the girl the correct charm " So the charm which should be use to ensure you and the blaze tree are unharmed is the Flame-Freezing charm, this charm makes fire become harmless to the touch, instead of a burn you get a tickling sensation. Now to cast the charm you hold your wand out like this and move your wrist in a circular motion and say the incantation, Ignis Glacies"

Miles then grinned at the girl, " Ok Miss Carrow give it a try, remember don't be to disapointed if you don't get it on your first try it can be abit of a tricky spell" Miles then leaned back on his desk and watched the girl attempt the spell

Juniper nodded at the professor's instructions, pointing her wand at the tree. "Ignis Glacies" She timidly reached a hand out toward the fire. It was still giving off a lot of heat. She put her hand a little closer, then immediately withdrew it. Juniper hated fire, it always seemed so dangerous and so uncontrollable. She shivered and tried again, "Ignis Glacies!" The fire kept burning brightly, but she cautiously put her hand out again, only to find that there was no heat coming from it.

The spell had worked! She smiled and waved her hand around in the fire, feeling it tingle harmlessly. "Okay, what next?" Juniper had a little trouble wiping that pointless grin off her face, but she stifled it all the same.

Miles watched the girl attempt the spell at first she was unsuccessful but on her third attempt she got it Miles was quite surprized this girl so definate promise

" Outstanding Miss Carrow, excellent cast 10 points to Ravenclaw" the girl seemed eager and ready to continue " Ok so now just go over to that shelf over there and get a medium sized pot and some poting mix and bring it back to your bench, once you had done that grab the Blaze Tree firmly at the base and place it onto the new pot"

Miles then leaned back on his desk and watched the student begin the task of re-potting

A shadow of a smile crossed Juniper's face as the teacher awarded points to her house. Walking over to the shelf, she held a pot in the crook of one arm and the potting mix in the other, striding toward the bench before she had the chance to drop either of them. She poured the mix into the pot, trying not to get too much of it on her hands. She wasn't really too fond of dirt, either.

Juniper grabbed the tree by the base, trying to pull it up with one hand, but it was rooted in there pretty well. She ended up having to use both hands to pull the tree up and her elbows to push the pot down. Finally, it's roots gave way, and she was able to place it in the pot. Juniper looked up at Professor Bloxam, breathing heavily.

The girl had finished potting the Blaze Tree into the bigger pot, Miles then gave her a smile and nodded his head "Excellent work Miss Carrow, now just go over to the back trolley over there and pick up a water can and just water it in a bit"

Miles then watched the girl just about to head towards the back trolley, he then picked up the Herbology textbook and flipped through the pages, then called out to the girl " Once you've done that, could you turn to page 78 in your textbook and copy out all the information in the red boxes thanks" Miles added

Juniper nodded, then headed back towards the trolley. This is how classes should be; quiet and productive. She was actually learning something today, as opposed to sitting around and waiting for everyone to stop talking. She picked up a watering can, then carefully tipped it over so its contents showered into the soil of the plant.

Then she put it down. Opening her textbook to the assigned page, Juniper quietly copied down her notes.

Jamie walked into the classroom only to see one more student there. "Sorry I'm late" Jamie said not sure if she was late or not.

Alex walked into class and spotted her friend Jamie. Alex walked over to her and smiled and then greeted the professor. "Hello professor" Alex said. Now Alex had to wait for the class to begin.

Alyssa jogged into the greenhouse.
"Sorry Professor, I've had my schedule changed, and I'm not used to it." She hoped she didnt miss too much. She saw the other girls in class. She walked over to the Ravenclaw, she has had fun times with another Ravenclaw in this same class.
"Can I sit with you?" She asked.
"Are those the pages we need to copy?"
